STOP GLAMORIZING THIS STUFF‼️‼️‼️ - sincerely, an ex-party girl who hasn’t even drunk alcohol since 2022

And ✌🏽to everyone who misses a severely unhealthy version of myself 😴

This is my baby “Negress” - details on my website! 🤍

If you guys didn’t know, I’m a fine art major and this is one of my pieces from this term ☆ This sculpture is made of wigs I’ve had since I was 12 years old, hung in chronological order.

There is no official statistic of how many black women were lynched in the United States, due to newspapers referring to them as an unnamed “Negress”. The roots are made from pages of Ida B. Wells’ Southern Horrors, an African American woman who advocated for the end of lynching in the United States.

This piece is about how the freedom to express my identity I have today, is thanks to the advocacy and tribulations of the black women who came before me. ♡

I’ll be posting details of all my pieces on this page and @slaylonieart, over the next few days, but my website laloniedavis.art has all of the pieces and information about them already uploaded if you wanna see the high res pictures and learn more! 🫧☆彡 Love u guys <3 taken in Art Center College Of Design by @slaylonie
