Let’s talk GOLD cakes ✨

There are two main ways I achieve that metallic buttercream finish: the spray bottle method and the airbrush method — and yes, they give VERY different results.

• Spray bottle method:I mix edible gold luster dust with high-proof alcohol (like Everclear or vodka) and spray it directly onto chilled buttercream using a fine mist spray bottle. This gives a more textured, reflective, almost antique gold finish with dimension and depth. Perfect for luxury-style cakes like this one.

• Airbrush method:The airbrush gives a smoother, softer, more even metallic finish. Cleaner gradients, less texture, and better control for detailed work or full coverage.

✨ Pro tip: Your buttercream MUST be cold and crusted before applying either method or the color can streak and separate.

The spray bottle method is messier… but personally? I think the final payoff looks richer and more expensive 👀
