Yesterday, I visited Fire Station 6 in District 2 for National First Responders Day. Today, I had the honor of speaking to SLCPD’s Recruit Class 181 graduates, welcoming a new group of officers into public service.

Congratulations to the graduating recruits, and thank you to all our police officers, firefighters and fellow first responders who serve Salt Lake City! 👏 by @slcdistrict2

Madsen Park will be closing on October 26, 2026. Thanks to the GO Bond approved in 2022, this park will undergo renovations centered around support for children, dogs, and community connection guided by previous public engagement. The park is anticipated to open in Spring of 2027.

Nearby parks to visit during renovation are:

Cottonwood Park (1580 W. North Star Dr.)
Steenblik Park (1050 W 800 N)
Jordan Park (1060 S. 900 W)
Jackson Park (481 N. Grant St.)

ICYMI: Salt Lake City is a long-standing member of Utah Renewable Communities: a group of 16 local communities across Utah working with @rockymountainpower to launch the Community Clean Energy Program. The Program will give Salt Lakers the power to choose affordable, net-100% renewable electricity, supporting healthier families, communities and the environment.

Early next year, Rocky Mountain Power customers in Salt Lake City will be automatically enrolled in the Program with the option to opt out. Participating households will pay an extra $4 on their monthly Rocky Mountain Power bill. Households enrolled in Rocky Mountain Power’s Home Electric Lifeline Program (HELP) will participate for free. The best way to get on HELP is to apply for the Home Energy Assistance Target (HEAT) program and automatically receive the benefits of both offerings.

Last weekend we had the honor of unveiling the historical marker for Sun Tavern, a significant place in Utah LGBTQ+ history. The marker will inform people about the community importance of the bar and its founder, Joe Redburn. Thank you to the Mildred Berryman Institute and our other community partners for helping establish this monument! by @slcdistrict2

Last month, I joined @slcdistrict5 Council Member Carlsen, @slcmayor and other community leaders to help to break ground on Camden Court (390 W 1300 S), in the Ballpark neighborhood. This new development will provide 96 income-restricted apartments for households earning 60% of the area median income or less.

Thank you to Chelsea Investment Corporation, @slc.cra and everyone who played a role in making this affordable housing project a reality.
