Swiss-Italian artist and creative director Vittorio Maria Dal Maso explores the porous thresholds between humans and artificial intelligence. He has worked with AI since 2017 and has developed a unique vision that blends technology, mysticism, and visual storytelling. His work sees AI-generated images not as mere digital artifacts but as powerful entities capable of evoking and transforming.

In his work, the intersection of science, spirituality, and aesthetics allows us to understand creativity as an act of liberation, a bridge between the material and the immaterial, where the artist is a spiritual seeker using technology to “protect and serve the peace, like the Jedi”, instead of destroying.

“Creating positive images, invocations of good luck, and practicing constructive actions can be considered an ethical and beneficial use of modern magic.”

Beyond his artistic practice, Vittorio applies this approach to branding, investigating the symbolic power of images, logos, and campaigns as modern rituals shaping collective perception. For him, brand logos serve as seals, slogans as formulas, and advertising as rituals, all designed to influence people’s behavior and induce them to purchase.

For Sleeper Cell 02, he presents a curated archival selection of his visual work.

Lee Gamble is a British artist renowned for his innovative approach to sound, shaped by the sculptural and theoretical sound objects of Musique Concrète, Noise and Computer Music, Rave, Simulation, Hallucination and mutating dancefloor mechanics.

His practice is characterized by an exploration of formal abstraction and rhythmic deconstruction, principles that extend beyond his musical compositions into his visual art. In his paintings, Gamble similarly engages in a process of constructing images from their fundamental components through the use of primary colors and essential lines.

In Huy Bld (2023), the surface of the canvas appears muffled and ethereal. Soft touches of yellow, ranging from canary to fluorescent, disperse across the predominantly white background. The deep purple hues along the edges of the composition create a stark contrast with the luminous yellow at its center.

Within these pigmented areas, delicate colored lines emerge, seemingly executed through the technique of automatic drawing. Rooted in the Surrealist tradition, this method relies on bodily movements not consciously controlled that generate chance-based textures and fragmented, abstract forms. In Gamble’s painting, traces of this process remain discernible, revealing repetitive textual elements—such as the phrase “dead soul”—as well as shapes evocative of an open, monstrous mouth lined with teeth.

For Sleeper Cell 02, Lee Gamble presents a curated selection of his paintings realized in the past three years.

Alessia Gunawan (b. 1995) is a multimedia artist specializing in photography and film.
In 2023, she launched Sensorial.jpg, a project centered on AI-generated imagery. In these digital creations, as in her photography, Gunawan employs hyper-saturated aesthetics to immerse viewers in vivid, evocative narratives. Her work explores the dark undercurrents of contemporary life, portraying anonymous, ruined architectures, eerie dolls and masks, high kids at parties, and other scenes evoking systems of power.
Gunawan’s palette shifts between shades of grey, green, and white, illuminated by bold, flashy lighting that enhance the surreal atmosphere.

For Sleeper Cell 02, she presents a curated selection of images developed within the Sensorial.jpg project.

Luigi Alberto Cippini (b.1987) is an architect, industrial designer, and curator. He has directed since 2016 Armature Globale, an architecture studio based in Milan. His emerging practice centers on “forgetting radicality and focusing on aggression”. This methodology includes conflict, violence, and assault, bringing an obscure and innovative perspective to the design of buildings.

For Sleeper Cell 02, he presents a selection of images of house prototypes under the shape of YouTube video frames and screenshots.

MRZB is an artistic group founded in 2014 in Bologna, currently operating between Amsterdam and Milan. The collective’s practice questions the processuality of creation as a stacking of tensions and forces throughout different media, like installation, performance, sculpture, video and writing.

Their research draws on topics such as the marginal, the domesticity, the decay, the grotesqueness, folk imaginaries, teen sensibilities, as repressed psychedelic and hallucinatory cosmos, to traverse the specters and residues of a centripetal and mass society.

MRZB is Andrea Parenti, Désirée Nakouzi De Monte, Filippo Tocchi, Pietro Cortona.

SC01 includes a special insert showcasing a storyboard created for the publication.
