A special piece of my heart in this bake. Can’t wait to see what other designs come to mind for this kind of sugar cookie. The texture of the leaves, flowers and berries was exactly what I was going for, with some strawberry buttercream sandwiched between, this cookie is going to be hard to top.

FRIDAY CAKE LOVE: The story of decorating a cake. October 2023- a good season for painting with buttercreams and making cakes. I love the rich, warm, earthy tones of fall and capturing them on a cake just doesn’t get old.

How to make a pumpkin shaped sourdough loaf. It’s not hard at all, especially if you already have bakers twine and a neutral oil on hand (and a loaf of proofed sourdough). Any questions?

If apple cider can be caramel, why can’t Crisp Apple Bloom pop? Wellll spoiler alert!! It can!!! These taste like those caramel apple suckers I loved as a kid and are so delicious! 🍎

Bloom Pop Caramels

2 cans of Crisp Apple Bloom Pop
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter (8 tbsp)
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg

8x8 or 4 X 8 inch pan lined criss-cross with parchment

Reduce the bloom pop over medium heat until there is about 1/2 cup liquid left. Remove from heat and then add the sugars, butter, and heavy cream; bring to a low boil and cook until 242ºf or the hard-ball stage is reached. Remove from heat and add in salt and spices. Mix well.

Pour into the lined pan and let cool; I put it in the fridge overnight.

Pop out of the pan, pulling on the parchment. Cut carefully into rectangles and wrap in wax paper. I like to store in the fridge.

We love our teachers, and I was gifted this Crisp Apple Bloom pop and I thought it would be so fun to make a little apple for a teacher gift. Some Apple glasses, and caramel
Apple dip and apple. A fun little thank you gift.

Caramel Apple dip (recipe from sugarspunrun)
( doubled)
2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 heaping tsp salt
1/2 cup water
4 tbsp light corn syrup
1 cup heavy cream, room temp
4 tbsp butter, room temp, cut into cubes
3 tsp vanilla extract

Bring sugar, salt, water, and corn syrup to a boil slowly. Let mixture cook until it turns caramel in color and reaches 240ºf.
Remove from heat and slowly add in heavy cream *be cautious of bubbling and steam*. Then add in butter a little at a time and mix until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.

September was a blur. The wins: life being sustained by many batches of chocolate chip cookies AND my starter is so happy and I’ve been baking sourdough again. Yay!!

Sound on for the current soundtrack of my life. Good thing baking bread helps takes the overwhelm out of things. Except at one point yesterday when I was climbing out of windows to not over bake it, that felt overwhelming.
