On the morning of day 5 teams were setting off on the stage 5 sea paddle around Capo Rosso to reach Oto Beach at Porto.

Conditions were windier today, but the teams were not slowed too much and the views of the cliffs, caves and arches were spectacular!

It’s past midnight on day 3 at TA5 in ARWC and the sleep monsters have taken over our media tech and we lost the audio on the clips for teams Vert, Strong Machine and Electric Mayhem 😬😭 but here is a short clip of them as they are all in good spirits and ready to keep going! After travelling all the way from New Zealand to race ARWC2026 with Lakes Adventure, Jo Williams has had the worst of luck on the first ride, reaching CP1 with a broken suspension. It's a very tough start for the only Kiwi team racing.

Race registration, kit and skills checking for ARWC2026 - Corsica is Magic, opened in the Place Tuffelli this morning at 9am and Team BendRacing/4HourFuel were the first in line!

The square has a perfect setting, looking out to the hills from it's town centre location in Corte, and the sun is shining today. Teams collect their bibs and a passport for registration, then move around the stations for each check, including a chat with the race referees.

All of the planning and training is now done and teams are excited to begin this pre-race stage!

Corsica and the Adventure Racing World Championship has our attention of course, but the ARWS and Adventure Racing is broad and busy community, and there are races in Asia, Oceania and N. America this weekend as well.

This is the opening ceremony of the Sebauh AR in Borneo, where teams are staying a long house with the community who are hosting the race. Before the start there was lot of music and dancing to enjoy and join in with, and that race is underway now.

In Oceania, it is the end of an era for Australia's longest running race, with the last Geoquest taking place in its classic 48 hour format. @wldnco

And in Canada it is @wildernesstraverse weekend. Another classic race where there are 53 teams traveling by foot, mountain bike, and canoe for up to 30 hours non-stop on a course set by Bob Miller in the Algonquin Highlands .

Next week, the 2026 Adventure Racing World Championship, hosted by Raid In France and presented by AR World Series, takes place on the island of Corsica. Nearly 100 teams with participants from 32 countries will line up at the start of this epic 500-kilometre, non-stop, multi-discipline race across this mountainous, Mediterranean island.

“We extend wishes to race directors Pascal and Nancy Bahuaud and their team, and we acknowledge the two years of hard work and planning to get to race day. AR World Series and CEO Heidi Muller with her team are instrumental in bringing expedition races around the world together, culminating in this World Championship event,” says Ross Phillips, chairperson of the International Adventure Racing Association.

“We also offer our best wishes to the participants without whom there would be no reason to hold an event like this. We look forward to following this exciting race across an epic landscape.”
