I lean into symmetry in my art because of the relationship between the symmetry and the viewer. I believe balance between good and evil, 1’s and 0’s or yin and yang is a way to achieve higher levels of consciousness, see between chaos and bring harmony to yourself and others.
Throughout history, and in many spiritual traditions, symmetry represents a profound relationship with mystery, and in a way, is how I express my relationship with god. In this piece I channeled my connection to my inner feminine energy, which protects and restores my masculine.

I’ve been researching why Western spirituality borrows from Hinduism and related traditions while leaving out the culture, the ethics, and the mythology.

Chakras, breathwork, and yoga didn’t come from nothing.. In their original context they serve a larger path toward liberation, one grounded in ethical discipline, devotion, and a whole cosmology. Strip that away and you’re left with a packaged product sold as wellness.

What surprised me is that most of what the West practices isn’t even the original. Modern postural yoga is largely a 20th-century blend of hatha and Western physical culture. The seven rainbow chakras owe as much to Theosophy and New Age writers as to tantric texts. So the erasure runs both ways.

What’s important to note is that it also didn’t start with us. It goes back through the counterculture, Theosophy, and the Transcendentalists, all the way to colonial rule that dismissed these traditions while extracting from them.

If you practice these things, it’s worth knowing where they come from and what was left behind.

You can’t fully honor a tradition you’ve only met as a technique or lifestyle.

Logan ninefingers magic card for a friend!
My first digital painting. I wanted to make the main subject absorb all the light, with a focus more on the looming threatening pose. #art #painting #magicthegathering #artist #process by @slendork
