Project Rise 🎈is my coaching programme for women in marketing and comms leadership roles, who want more confidence and impact in their leadership, and to create high-performing teams (without being an a*se).

The connection, depth and progress of the group is very special. We are dropping the people pleasing, the over-functioning and creating the careers and lives that bring loads more happiness and growth.

Katie, a marketing director on the programme, said to me last Friday "I cannot believe the difference this programme has made to my leadership at work, plus also my life at home, in such a short space of time."

———

Considering coaching to grow yourself at work AND not forget about your well-being?

There are 6 spaces for female leaders to join Project Rise in September 2026.

If you are interested in one of the places on the programme, for you, or a team member, drop me a reply and I can share details.

At the AllBright Mayfair, 50 leaders and founders dove deep into how your mind can be both your best friend and your worst enemy.

I was sharing the powerful, Positive Intelligence work from Shirzad Chamine.

We discussed how…

👀Our inner saboteurs, can often be running the show in our heads and we don’t even realise it.
🤦‍♀️Under stress and uncertainty our autopilot, saboteurs reactions have us feel guilt, fear, shame, anger sadness or overwhelm.
🌱When we become aware that our saboteurs are habits of the mind, we then have choice. This is liberating.
😄Humour helps too! We all have saboteurs and when we create some lightness around them, it weakens their hold.
🌳There is a calm, laser-focused sage self within us all and it is possible to unlock this through establishing a regular, mental fitness practice.

I am still glowing from the energy in this workshop. Change is great when you do it alongside others.

Which of these saboteurs resonate with you?

Controller?
Avoider?
Hyper-Achiever?
Stickler?
Hyper-Rational?
Hyper-Vigilant?
Pleaser?
Restless?
Victim?

If you would like to book a half day Mental Fitness workshop for your team this year, get in touch.

Why did I add Positive Intelligence and Mental Fitness to my coaching toolbox?

Back in 2019, I said to my coach that I wanted to explore the world of neuroscience further. I'd been coaching for 3 years at the time and I wanted to understand more deeply why my clients (and me) kept saying they would do things that they really wanted to do, and then not follow through. I wanted to help people understand their overwhelming thinking patterns and be able to create a safe, space for them to discuss their thoughts without feeling judged, or like they were totally broken. I wanted the support of an approach rooted in scientific research. No woo-woo fluff.

I went off to research doing a masters in neuroscience and positive psychology. I found a few courses and was ready to take them back to discuss with Cat, my coach.

It was in that next coaching session where Cat told me about an opportunity she'd seen. Shirzad Chamine, was inviting experienced coaches to train in his Positive Intelligence methodology. Positive Intelligence is the science and practice of developing mastery over your own mind so you can reach your full potential for both happiness and success.

The work is a synthesis of the latest breakthroughs in neuroscience, positive psychology, CBT, & performance science. It was perfect. I put together my application and was accepted. The terms of the agreement were that you had to go through the programme yourself first and really “do your own work” to see how powerful the framework was. And it is powerful.

It was a gift that I found this work pre-lockdown. I grew my own Positive Intelligence which helped me (and my judgey, stressy inner critic) have a practical toolkit to manage my emotions. It improved my confidence and self-trust as a leader of my business and transformed my relationships at home.

I was also able to help my clients. Since doing the training and becoming a certified Positive Intelligence (PQ) Coach, I have coached over 150 people to grow their PQ. I’ve taught them the framework to use in their leadership and personal lives. It has been a privilege.

Forever learning,
To your pivot,
Liz

Project Rise 🎈 cohort 8 starts in September. I’m curating this small, yet mighty group right now, and six places are available. Want one?

You’d be a good fit if…

- You are a woman in marketing and comms
- You are in a leadership role
- You are managing the parenting juggle at the same time
- You know your s**t, but you sometimes wobble with self doubt
- You want to rise, but you don’t want to ruin your well-being along the way
- You are ready to pivot how you are looking at things to create more ease and flow

Read about what Sally, an agency leader, said about her experience on the programme...

“I signed up to Project Rise as I was taking a significant step up in my role and responsibilities and feeling completely daunted by the prospect.

The safe space and encouragement set up by Liz in the weekly meetings from the outset gave an immediate sense of community. It was great to be on a journey with other people in a similar position and to get a fresh perspective on my challenges, as well as be able to offer the same to the other women in my cohort.

The course goes deep and covers loads, and it’s set up in a way to be really digestible and pragmatic - from Day 1, I was able to stress-test things we’d talked about in the session in my real working environment. The consistency of the weekly videos, homework and group meetings means you get to see and feel progress quickly. I think that’s heightened by the fact you’re on the course with other people - it always seems easier to recognise progression in others.

The toolkit you come out of the course with is gold. And something I go back to time and time again as different challenges emerge or a new insight that makes me consider what we learned on the course in a new way.

The impact of the course on how I feel about my role and my self-confidence has been phenomenal. Not only that, the impact the course has had on me finding ease and enjoyment in all areas of my life has been significant.

It’s a game-changing coaching programme, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to take that next step.”

The link to the overview is in my bio.

⛑️Stop saving everyone — it’s actually the kindest thing to do.

I was working with a wonderful, highly intelligent leader this morning. She knows her stuff. She cares deeply about her team, their happiness and their growth.

But every time a team member gets stuck, she swoops in and fixes it.

And when the problem isn’t fixed, or her ideas aren’t taken up, she feels guilty. And quietly frustrated.

We explored this together. And what we uncovered was this: in kindly trying to sort out her team member’s problem, she was actually keeping them stuck. And creating a whole lot of unnecessary drama for herself in the process.

In Project Rise, my coaching programme for female leaders, we talk a lot about Stephen Karpman’s Drama Triangle. The three roles we can unconsciously slip into: Victim, Rescuer, Persecutor.

So many brilliant leaders get stuck in the triangle with their teams without even realising it. Noticing when you’re in it is the first step to unhooking yourself. Setting better boundaries, stepping back from the pull to fix and overgive, and creating the space for your team to find their own resourcefulness.

Stopping saving everyone isn’t unkind. It’s the most empowering thing you can do, for them and for you.

Are you rescuing your team or are you leading them?

👋I’m Liz, I work with leaders, founders and teams in marketing and comms on their leadership and personal growth.

How much do you solve your team problems for them?

Last week I was in Paris, with a leadership team, where we focused deepening their coaching skills to create environments where team members think for themselves, rather than relying on the leader for all the answers.

We got practical and everyone practised listening (not just waiting for your turn to speak). They discovered it’s not easy and it takes practice!

We explored and experimented with the power of questions and how some questions can open up the mind and others, directly close it down.

I shared a few principles for them to ponder on…

🧠The brain that contains the problem, also contains the solution (Nancy Klein)

🤔When someone is stuck. You have two choices. 1. You can tell them what to do. 2. You could listen.

🧠The mind seems to prefer to think, rather than obey.

❓The mind resists commands. It responds questions.

💡When you originate an idea, it satisfies a core psychological need for autonomy, which is strongly linked to intrinsic motivation and well-being.

As a leader of people, your role in every interaction with your team is to be conscious of where the coachable moments are. And let go of your need for having all the answers.

Stop - pause, breathe before jumping in
Think - Is this a coachable moment?
Ask - A powerful question and actively listen
Result - Agree the next steps and way forward

Do this and you’ll have less on your plate and your team members will be happier and develop quicker.

What coachable moments can you spot today?

Becoming pattern spotters.

Whether you are agency or client side, when things get busy, it’s easy to keep speeding along without stopping to look around.

Last week, I was with an EMEA comms team in a rapidly shifting global industry for their offsite, kicking off a six-month leadership development programme.

Senior communicators responsible for multiple markets, constant change, and the pressure to move quickly.

That all sounds very snazzy.

Really, my job (and that of the Slick Pivot coaches) is to help this team slow down. Even in times of extreme pressure and crisis, my job is to help them re-centre and check they are on the right track.

When we slow down and create space to really observe what is going on (inside us and in the external world) we become brilliant pattern spotters.

When you spot patterns that work for you, keep doing them.

When you spot patterns that don’t work for you, tweak them. Often it only takes a small adjustment, a micro pivot. Sometimes lots of micro-pivots.

If you never make space to pause and reflect, you’ll keep racing down the track without checking whether it’s the right track, or whether it leads to what really matters.

The leaders I work with are constantly becoming better pattern spotters.

What patterns are showing up in your team right now?
