A single-pole pyramid is an efficient way to create a lot of sheltered space without carrying much structure. This is the @slingfin Cinder Cone in Colorado’s Rawah Wilderness. The center pole supports the peak, and tension in the fabric transfers loads to the perimeter anchors. Those sloping panels offer wind less of an upright surface to push against. A taut pitch helps limit flapping, while secure anchors maintain the tension the shelter needs to hold its shape. For mountain hiking, the floorless interior is especially useful. Wet packs and muddy shoes can come inside without soaking or dirtying a sewn-in floor. There’s room to spread out gear, and compatible trekking poles can provide the center support, saving the weight of a dedicated pole. The main compromise is finding a site. With larger pyramids like this one, its generous footprint needs enough usable ground, and rocky soil can make secure staking difficult. You also lose headroom toward the edges. For hikers willing to work with those constraints, a pyramid offers a compelling combination of space, low structural weight, and simplicity. by @slingfin

The Indus 2 has one job: keep you protected from the elements, season after season. It isn’t the lightest tent out there, but that’s what the rest of the SlingFin lineup is for. This tent is made for the harshest weather so that it doesn’t need to be babied. If you are curious, head over to our website and read the reviews. #Indus2 #SlingFinTents by @slingfin

The SlingFin HotBox is made for expeditions and gnarly weather. In order to keep the wind profile low, we gave it one door at the foot of the tent. The problem with most single-door tents is that then you lose precious vestibule space for your gear. That is why the HotBox has an integrated gear storage system, which you can think of as “mini vestibules” on each side of the tent. These full-length snow flaps don’t require any additional stakes, and keep your gear dry and out of the elements. The HotBox actually has loads of features which make it unique, more to come soon. 📸 @austinschmitzphoto by @slingfin
Unreal aurora deep in the Canadian Arctic over the BFD. Our friends at @thornhillexpeditions have been using our tents for years, showing their guests the magic of the arctic: polar bears, arctic foxes, and of course, the Northern Lights. #SlingFinWild #northernlights #aurora canadianarctic by @slingfin
Our Expedition series tents are the core of SlingFin’s DNA. They’ve survived storms in the Himalaya that have wiped out all other tents at camp. They’ve been right at home on both of the poles. They’ve advanced teams to high camps on first ascents. Their infrastructure can be traced to our lightweight backpacking and bivvy tents too. That’s part of the reason they are some of the strongest shelters in their respective categories. So yeah, this is about expeditions. But expeditions take all shapes and sizes, so we’ve got you covered. by @slingfin
