Battle Night At the Club! Last night we had some fun sparring with a four way war with father and son team consisting of Coach Chris teaming with his son Chase against Ivan and Head Coach Lawrence. SURVIVED!!
Sparred the thug last night and am here to post it!
Had to be at my defensive best....he hits hard. Even the jabs that don't look like much were felt. Steered as clear as I could from the quick right hands, too.
The size and strength advantages are definitely gone.

The 114th edition of the Mann Cup opening last night between the Six Nations Chiefs and Coquitlam Adanacs.

Getting to see it on Six Nations was a treat.

The anthems and Smoke Dance are highlight of their own. Such a cool lacrosse experience.

And the lacrosse? You don't see better skill than this. The Chiefs looked like the lacrosse version of the Harlem Globetrotters at times. Such a powerhouse of a team.

Killer goal by the thug (...also a solid iso edit of his that I scooped) at @epiclaxgames junior showcase yesterday.

(Before this clip, he beat a check, used his wheels to get the ball up the floor, made a solid pass for a great chance that was saved...where this clip picks up. A clinic on transition!)

The sun sets on another Provincials - which could be the last one.
The kids battled, but just didn't have it. It was an ultra-competitive division without much room for error. They ran into some great goaltending, a couple teams that pressured really well, and a mystifying decision by the OLA.
As always, the Lacrosse Festival experience is unlike anything else. Really cool to be there. And you can't beat our yearly Bengals barracks of the Holiday Inn in downtown Oshawa. A lot of stories and questionable takes were shared as we commandeered the hotel's front yard this year (and the lobby in other years) 'til the wee hours. Sharing our wisdom with the U11 parents/ parking-lot partners was another highlight of this year.

This was a solid group of kids, an amazing coaching staff, and fun group of parents to spend countless hours with in arenas.

Our post-football half-day in Old Montreal. So impressive.
Did some more domestic tourism in a city that really seemed like a distant, cross-the-pond destination. I'd definitely put this on a par with some of the cities we visited in Europe.

Even better - in a night-and-day contrast to Ottawa, I think I saw one...one...homeless person. (Of course, I'm sure there are areas that have their issues, but the difference in visible social/ addiction issues and city cleanliness was so apparent, it felt kinda strange.)

Le Stade Percival Molson - an absolute gem!
From entrance to exit, this place was impressive. Unique would be an understatement. (You don't find many hills on concourses these days.)
The 21,000 Als fans (somehow 2k short of a sellout, despite feeling packed in) were loud. Real loud.
The Ticats lost, but had a lead midway through the 4th....which was pretty shocking. Solid game, pressibe venue.
If you like football of any kind, get to this 111-year-old gem!

A few days in Ottawa.
Have only been there once - and it was brief. Architecture feels like a trip to Europe.
Was a 4 minute walk to the Byward Market, and about 8 mins to the Parliament buildings - impressive with how walkable it was.

A really cool city....with some shocking social/ human-misery issues. (An educational trip that showed the results of successive shitty provincial governments.)

Canadian Museum of War - not a huge war buff, but this was pretty blow-away impressive. Quite the production and depiction of Canada's role in world conflicts. (Even has a really cool walk through the US civil war and it's affect on Canada.)
