*The Cosmic Eye* is a wizard stripped down to essentials — a starlit hat, a beard growing its own small forest, a pipe curling slow smoke, and a single vast eye with a galaxy turning inside it. He isn't searching for anything. He's just watching it all unfold at its own unhurried pace.

The third eye opens slowly. That's rather the point.

Hold your eyes on the tree a moment and it resolves into a face — three-eyed, half-smiling, older than the question you were about to ask. A whole kingdom roots into it: capybaras keeping watch, an owl, an elephant, a snail taking the long way down. It's the part of you that already knew how to slow down, drawn as a tree that's been here since before hurry was invented.

Out past the last floating island, a tree keeps time with real gears and a clock nobody's watching too closely. The koala's on the decks, the wizard sloth's got the good mushroom seat, and even the suited shark turned up. It's the late show — cosmic, unhurried, running well past a reasonable bedtime, because the good part always does.

(Salvador stays for the whole broadcast. Reception's better when you're not in a rush.)

The whole forest turned up for the cookout. Bigfoot's on the grill, the owl and the fox pulled up a log by the fire, and the sloth in the hammock has committed fully to the horizontal life. "Don't tread on my grill." Somewhere in the trees a UFO is minding its own business. Three days, good company, nothing that has to happen. For the person who measures a weekend by how little of it they remember planning.

The Mushroom Council is in session. Presiding: one bearded sloth in a star-flecked hat, pipe lit, one paw resting on a stack of books he'll finish eventually. A little sloth holds the lantern. One gnome takes the minutes; another handles the lyre. The single item on the agenda, as always, is whether to do anything at all — and the ruling comes back the same it always does. Sit. Stay a while.

Salvador holds a seat on this council. He has never once voted to hurry.

Under the mushrooms, a whole court keeps session — winged fairies, a gnome mid-spell, owls on the wing, a snail arriving fashionably late, and rows of small fungal folk who answer to no clock.

*The Mushroom Court* is a folktale drawn in a thousand tiny ink lines, for anyone who's quietly suspected the slow, damp, patient things were running the place all along.

A fortress of rigatoni towers and Swiss-cheese walls, mortared with marinara and raised grain by grain by a very committed ant workforce. A sliced tomato hangs overhead like a small sun. Nobody's rushing the build — good things take a slow simmer, and this one's been on the stove a while. For anyone who considers the long lunch a form of architecture.

Around here the sasquatch works the grill, the eagle hauls in a whole box of fireworks, and something up in that beam is quietly making off with the cow. *The Pitmaster* opted out of all of it — flag hammock, cold drink, front-row seat to the chaos. Low and slow was always the plan.
