1ST POST 😁 🎉 🙌🏽 📚

HELLO HELLO HELLO and WELCOME!!!! I was hesitating to post today because I wanted to create the perfect welcome video…BUT…when is anything ever the “perfect” time 🤷🏽‍♀️ (bc as usual I have a busy weekend planned 😮‍💨

My name is Michelle and if you have not gotten the general idea, I LOVE BOOKS!!! 📚 🩷 As a single mom who lives a wild and hectic life, books have truly become my little slice of peace ☺️. And then I realized there is an ENTIRE COMMUNITY of us that love books too so I decided I need to be amongst My People! 😂

But the more and more I spend time in reading groups and following all types of bookish content I realized 1 major thing…I read REAL slow yall! 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 But the next thing I realized was THAT IS OK! 🙌🏽☺️

I am a busy single mom of 2 amazing (and probably a little feral) children who are in 2 completely different stages of life. I have one learning to drive and 1 learning to use the potty so things get very interesting in my house 🥴. I’m special needs mom raising the sweetest little girl with Austim (who happens to love my books too), the somewhat cool mom raising a teen boy who actually still likes to have out with me (OH YEAH), a dog mom to a mini aussie and a wild and crazy chihuahua, an employee trying to save the world 1 safe discharge at a time, a grieving mom who lost the most beautiful little girl named Mia to brain cancer…and I’m also a reading (and book shopping) mom. That’s all a lot right??? 😮‍💨

BUT…I say all of this to say LIFE IS BUSY and I don’t always have as much free time (or extra money) to read and buy books as I would like…BUT I’M STILL READING!!!!! 📖 🤓 Books bring me joy and I am at a stage in my life where I am chasing every single bit of joy that I can!!! And if you are anything like me, busy, tired, living a crazy life and love books too, I hope you’ll stick around and we can be friends 😁 🤗 📚 by @slowbutstillreading

You ever have friends on social media that you never see…but you watch their kids grow up and love them to pieces from afar simply because you feel like you know them??? 🤔 That’s kindof how bookstagram feels 😂. Here we are…sharing our love of books (and sometimes snippets of our real lives) with one another and we just feel connected. And I LOVE THAT FOR US!!! 🥰🙌🏽😁

The one thing I told myself before starting this account was I was going to be true to who I am and I want people to see an honest version of me! I’m just someone who has a sometimes hectic and crazy and mess and beautiful life like most people and I just happen to also love books! 😊 📚

What it’s like trying to read a book when you have a child with Autism 😮‍💨😂

My little one has been vocal stimming A LOT the past 3 days or so. When people think my house is quiet because my daughter is non-verbal…YEAH NO! 😂 (Maddie said IS THIS THING ON?!?!?! 🎤😂)

I was DETERMINED to finish The Witch by Freida McFadden today!!!! And although it took me a little longer to finish today than I expected because I had to reread sections because I could barely hear myself think/read, I DID IT!!! 📖 🧙🏽‍♀️👏🏽😁 (Review coming soon 😉)

Now onto the next book! Lunatide by Micka Hill 🌊

Saved By His Grace Sundays (but make it bookish 🙏🏽 📖)

Book: God So Close by Becky Thompson

It can be really easy to feel like God is close when times are good. When the choir is on point during service and you’re praising or when the thing you have been praying for finally happens. But what about the times when life is tough? When you’ve been waiting on something. Or when your anxiety is high. Or when things just are not going your way. There are often times when I need a reminder of God’s closeness and reading His word and reading about His goodness is something that tends to help me. I also don’t EVER want to stop seeking His face and growing in Him so I do 2 things…I read and I pray! 📖 🙏🏽

This book was an easy read and I love that there is a short prayer at the end of each chapter. This is a book you could breeze through but I’d encourage you to take your time and get everything you can from it.

WHAAAATTTT??? 😮

I woke up to 1,000 FOLLOWERS this morning!!!!!! 🤩 I cannot believe that 1,000 (1,002 to be precise) are following little ol me!!! 😮

I’m just over here mom’n and reading books and one Saturday morning while laying in bed I decided to do what I’ve been wanting to do for a while…start a bookstagram and connect with other people who looks books too! 📚 ☺️

I turn the tv down and sit on the couch with my book bc I’m ready to tune out the world for the rest of the night…

And then THIS happens 😑. Kids are so funny! Trying to read and now I’m front and center for a dusty ukulele concert 🎶 🎸. (this thing has been in the bottom of the toy box FOREVER 🗃️…but TONIGHT she has decided to love it again 🤦🏽‍♀️) 😂😂😂

Ok…so the bottom line is I realized I have a problem 🤦🏽‍♀️. Let me explain…

My little girl Maddie has Autism and she is constantly seeking out sensory input. She loves to twirl and crinkle certain things in her hands bc she likes the feel and the sound. Well apparently @barnesandnoble receipts have the perfect feel and sound for her. Whenever we go book shopping she wants the receipt and she holds onto it for a long time🧾. We live very close to 2 different Barnes and Noble locations so we go pretty often even if just to peruse or grab a drink and snack.

Maddie also has a little basket in the house that she fills with preferred items such as toys and trinkets that she likes to take all around the house with her. She even takes this basket to bed with her every single night. When we got home today, she went to add our Barnes and Noble receipt from today to her little basket 🧺 (she’s like my very own little red riding hood with her little basket of goodies🥰 😂). YALL WHY MY BABY GOT A COLLECTION OF RECEIPTS SO BIG SHE COULD WRAP A MUMMY FOR HALLOWEEN??? 🤦🏽‍♀️ (I would have taken a picture but she was protecting her stash 😂)

I might need a book buying intervention 🫣😂

It’s such a BEAUTIFUL day outside!!! A perfect day to take a little PTO and enjoy the sunshine! ☀️ (After a walk through the aisles of the bookstore first! 📚 🛍️ 😁) As you can see my little one keeps track of my spending by checking and holding onto the receipt 🧾 😂 (I didn’t buy the adorable book tumbler but I wanted to 🥰😂)

It’s been a hectic week and I needed a moment to just breathe 😮‍💨. I had some B&N Rewards saved up so why not cheer myself up with a book and a little drinky drink ☕️ 📖 ☺️. Starbucks has my FAV drink the white hot chocolate back in stock and although it’s in the 80’s here, I can ALWAYS go for hot chocolate 🤍 🍫 . HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!! WE MADE IT!!! 🎉 🙌🏽 😁
