Cosy dinner thats better than takeout!💛: Cream corn fried chicken rice 🌽🍗

Hong kong style cream corn chicken rice doesn’t pair with fried chicken but diced chicken usually. but im craving for something crispy so i changed the dish a bit 🤪 the thing is i discovered this japanese method of frying some time ago (forgot which reels did i watch and i dont even rmb the name of the dish😭) and i just wish i knew it sooner!!! Since then, i often use this method to fry chicken at home with less oil and satisfy my craving ^3^

in hong kong cha chann tengs, we always have this section of scrambled eggs rice with different meat (the best with cha siu! (barbecued pork)) i applied the same logic to this salmon version of dinner idea and its AMAZINGG! the point is to make a really good hk styled scrambled eggs hehe hope you try it out!🤤

Cosy dinner when you need a cheat meal!💛 Three Treasures Rice with Black Pepper Sauce

This black pepper garlic sauce is a popular one in hong kong cafes that you can pick for a steak set or rice dish with grilled meat of your choice. What’s more interesting is that we have this special dish called Tui Fan 頹飯, which is basically all the salty, protein-packed, indulgent processed meat and fried eggs with a sauce of your choice (usually this black pepper sauce or garlic sauce).

It might have become popular around the time I was a bachelor’s student (hmmm), but I still remember having this dish during my OT days as well (I craved this whenever I was starving and needed energy to finish my work hahaha). So many memories brought back! Anyways, I hope no one comments on why it’s so unhealthy because it’s supposed to be not-so-healthy and cheap and just fill your tummy with guilty pleasure TT (sorry but not sorry! :33) Just enjoy a lazy cheat meal guys occasionally!!

Cosy dinner that i keep on rotation: Chicken burger steak with creamy dijon mustard sauce🧸💛

We’ve been making this chicken burger steaks repeatedly for dinner lately! Mostly with salads tbh and you can freeze the remaining ones and reheat it when u need a quick meal hehe anyways just when i thought spring is finally here in melbourne (23 degree the other day!), it becomes chilly again hahahaa i guess we still have a while before spring officially arrives. So I decided to make a twist by creating a sauce to pair with it - it turns out almost like a maccas sauce in their burgers lmao but it goes really well with the chicken burger steaks and rice!!

day 30/30 cosy dinner ideas: Sour and Spicy beef rice noodles🍜🥰

TamJai rice noodles used to be my weekly go-to back in Hong Kong. Altho we have TamJai in Melbourne too, I hate to say it just doesn’t taste as good to me… and it’s quite pricey :p so I took some time to test and develop my own rice noodle recipe, and this is the version I love the most so far!! Tbh, it doesn’t even taste that much like TamJai’s mala soup flavour anymore 🤣 but I love my version so much that I don’t crave restaurants’ rice noodles nearly as often now cause I make this at home almost every week lolol

day 29/30 cosy dinner ideas: Cake of Potato (Pastel de papa) 🥔☁️🍰

layered super fluffyyyy (easy) pototo mash and minced beef (in argentine style) but importantly, Cake of Potato is such a cute dish name isnt it!!! 💖 (my bf translated it for me hahaha)

the truth is we’ve made this argentine dinner several times and i never remember its name until today, he texted me that he had Pastel de papa (leftover) for lunch and i thought theres a new restaurant near home and i didnt know?! 😂 so from now on, i do remember the name lololol

day 28/30 cosy dinner ideas: Macau-style portuguese chicken rice 💛🐓🥕

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE replace the cream with coconut cream if you can⚠️! I thought i had it at home and didn’t realise it until i needed it TT so sad the coconut flavour is definitely key ingredient here … but it’s okie because with cream, it still tastes delicious😮‍💨🧡 (but dont be like careless ceci… GET COCONUT CREAM ok???)

anyways this Portuguese chicken rice actually has nothing to do with Portugal (i believe) but i also had no idea why it’s called Portuguese chicken rice lol (lemme do some research🫡) What i know is that it’s from Macau!! yes, not hong kong lol but i still grew up with it because lots of hk restaurants serve it too haahhaha my brother loves my Portuguese chicken rice so much that he cleaned up all the leftover the next day so…. please try it !!!

and about the tomatoes… i had one tomato left in the fridge that i wanted to use it up but you may ignore it :ppp

day 27/30 cosy dinner ideas: Creamy chicken rice (Chicken à la King on Rice)🤍🐔

Another hong kong KFC-inspired dinner idea! Besides the Black Pepper Mushroom Rice I shared before, they also have this Creamy white sauce chicken rice, which is my brother’s fav (mine is still the mushroom rice lol). He’s been requesting this for dinner, and I think a girl suggested I recreate it in the comments too (?) so here it is hehehe. I basically cooked it from how I remember it tasting, but we both think it’s pretty much the same!! So simple but cosy, perfect for a freezing winter night dinner in Melb lmao

and i literally just learned the real eng name of this dish is Chicken à la King🙀

day 26/30 cosy dinner ideas: Baby spicy mince with tofu - Mapo Tofu (easy & baby spicy edition) ❤️‍🔥🦭

i used minced beef here cuz this is what i had this time hahaa you could use minced pork like the classic recipe - both are delicious! To achieve this easy version of Mapo tofu, you need Chilli bean paste (豆瓣醬)!!! I always have a jar at home in case i’d like to add some heat to my bowl (im the only spice lover of this household 🤣) its nothing crazy compared to the traditional sichuan mapo tofu recipe (which is a tad red🌶️), but my Mapo Tofu is still little spicy, intense and some sort of umami flavour (from the beans fermentation) hehe i love this homemade version a lot

day 25/30 cosy dinner ideas: Soy garlic butter pasta💛

you need many garlic cloves for both the crispy garlic oil and minced garlic butter sauce but trust me, the more the merrier!!! and my partner had literally this face 😦 when i ground parmesan in the pasta, but again TRUST ME, i have made this million times. If anything it just makes it taste more fantastic ❤️‍🔥 and btw the baked frozen chicken tender is really optional, the pasta is amazing on its own hahaha
