After years of the market grind, workshops and running my upcycled clothing label @dusty_thelabel I ’ve taken the leap into something I’ve been dreaming about for a while… Meet Slow Lab 🌞 your new lil home in Bruns for local labels, workshops, events and a bit of play And because opening a shop wasn’t enough, I thought I’d take you along for the ride Welcome to the Slow Lab Fit-Out Diaries! EP. 1 ~ HERE WE GOOOOO 🕺🏼 by @slowlab_bruns
Welcome to Slow Lab 🌞 your new home for local labels, workshops, events & a bit of play A little old school, a little slower & a reminder that you don’t have to be “a creative” to make things More than just a shop, it’s a space to explore, try something new & connect Keep an eye out here or pop into the shop to see what’s on each week! It’s time to slow down 🌊 Official opening date coming soon ✨logo by talented local artist @natwelsh_creative 🙌🏼 • • • • #brunswickheads #shoplocal #byronbay #byronbayevents #handmade by @slowlab_bruns
Held together by paint n grout & couldn’t be happier @slowlab_bruns 🌞 COMING SOON A lil nook for creativity & connection • • • • #brunswickheads #slowfashion #handmade #shoplocal by @slowlab_bruns
Finally feel official 😎 After a ridiculously long time of putting it off (& too proud to ask for help / not wanting to put anyone else through the pain 😅) I’ve done the thing Now everyday I can just pop a bubble til she’s smooooth as or just claim it as celebrating imperfection… Shoutout to the talented @natwelsh_creative for bringing my logo to life 🌞 by @slowlab_bruns
A little stockist stand delivery to our friends at @slowlab_bruns in Brunswick Heads!! Part of the @dusty_thelabel fam, Slow Lab is Brun’s newest creative hub, filled with local brands, handmade goodies, workshops and all things creative! One of my favourite things about SFD is being stocked in independently owned stores, run by beautiful people doing their own thing. If you’re wandering around Bruns, pop into Slow Lab, have a little look around and support small! So happy to be part of this space 💛 by @slowlab_bruns
YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT!!! SLOW LAB IS OPEN 😎🙌🏼 Kinda ironic deciding to not post the BTS in real time so I could be more present during the fit-out…only to then spend all my time editing it and not sharing all the goodness happening NOW 😂 There’s brands coming in, workshops lining up and SO much exciting stuff brewing that I wanna be telling you, rather than keeping you stuck in fit-out land forever Slow Lab will keep growing and evolving but the doors are open and you can actually come visit!!! 🌞 Cannot wait to meet you all! 🌊Open Thurs-Mon 10am-3pm 2/1 Park Street Brunswick Heads #fitout #shopopening #creativehub #brunswickheads #smallbusiness by @slowlab_bruns
Rainy days = premo sourcing weather 🙌🏼 Had a lil roadie north to @rednedssalvage in Tweed (huge shoutout) followed by gorgeous Nerang @bunnings for the table legs to my pride & joy ✨ Fuelled by a v on-brand turmeric latte delivery from our sweet neighbours @yami_brunswick_heads 💛 Ep 6. 🌞 Slow Lab fit-out diaries by @slowlab_bruns
Another day building my lil creative hub (slowly) ✨ Gained some plant friends to distract from all my studio things entering the chat… then another evening spent with my table of sunshine Ep. 6 🌞 Slow Lab fit-out diaries by @slowlab_bruns
The tile table saga continues - the story behind my pride n joy ✨ Huge love to everyone who was roped in mentally & physically (sorry) but thank you for joining me on my mission made the chaos far more fun 😂💛 Ep 5 🌞 Slow Lab fit-out diaries by @slowlab_bruns
Nothing like a fit out for some fam bonding 😂 Mum & Dad have joined the journey bringing Maisy the couch (collected on their roadie up, originally from the Powerhouse Museum in WA!!!), ft. our @bksbruns board meeting ritual, my emotional support tile, yet another Bunnings trip and a salvage mission 🕺🏼 A bit diff to the usual fam holidays in bruns… EP. 04 - Slow Lab Fit-Out Diaries 🌞 by @slowlab_bruns
I was in two minds about sharing the shop fit-out BTS… 1. It’s not real time (spoiler sorry) I wanted to be present for it all and honestly, by the end of each day I was absolutely knackered I didn’t realise just how much it would take out of me… on top of moving studios AND moving house 🫠 2. I thought it might be boring.. BUT looking back, I feel like these snippets capture the essence of Slow Lab and just how much love has gone into bringing it to life And if nothing else, they’re here for future me to look back on and laugh (or cry) 😂 EP. 2 of the Slow Lab Fit-Out Diaries - and we’re just getting started 🌞 by @slowlab_bruns
The fit-out deets 🌞 Sooo much time went into planning the pieces… most of which became irrelevant 😂 I became tile obsessed - a non negotiable to execute the vision (sorry to my mate helping with the build 😂) Decided to send it & whack some yellow on the walls 🍯 My whole world turned yellow 🌙 Made our coming soon sign using discarded sheets cos we love a repurposing DIY moment 🙌🏼 • • • • #smallbusinessowner #shopfitout #upcycled #slowfashion #handmade My fave lil addition picked up on a roadie from the central coast 😍 • • • • #brunswickheads #shoplocal #byronbay #northernriversnsw by @slowlab_bruns
