I’M BACK 🙌🏼

After vanishing from bookstagram for way too long, @slowphiereads is back with a new chapter. Only this time a little different…

I’ve discovered that writing in my native language feels more personal and authentic to me, so from now on I’ll be writing my captions in dutch 🇳🇱

This way I can express myself better and maybe also talk in reels in the future!

For my non-dutch speaking friends: thank you for still being here 🫶🏻 I really hope you can still enjoy my content too (luckily there’s a translation button) 😉

fashionably late summer wrap up 🌻

after this we’ll move on to cozy fall content, i promise 🍁🫣

i haven’t read a lot of books last summer and i’m blaming iron flame (800 pages guys, and i’m a slow reader), but the books i did get to were totally worth it, including a new 5 star favourite! 💜

here are all the books i’ve read in the third quarter of the year:

📖 almond (5⭐️)
🎧 dear good morning (3⭐️)
📖 all fours (4⭐️)
📖 iron flame (4⭐️)

hi friends, long time no see! 🫶🏻

☕️ life update
i disappeared, again… 😅
turns out consistent posting isn’t my superpower. i love creating content, but apparently my busy life said “nope”. hopefully i’ll find a better balance soon. does anyone else struggle with this too?

anyway, i wasn’t sure if i should still share these prague photos since the trip was already a few months ago, but it felt like a waste to never share them. so enjoy these little memories! 💛

ps: bookish content is coming soon 😉

hello september! 🍁

the -ber months are here, aka cozy season!
can’t wait to light candles again, snuggle under a soft blanket, wear my favourite sweater, drink chai latte and lose myself in a book 🕯️

the series on my booksta where i yap about my life and current reads 🫶🏻

☕️ life update
guys i’m so excited, i finally joined a book club! such a fun way to meet other book lovers and talk about books together 🥰 i’m also in a really good reading flow these days! maybe because i finally found my first 5 star read of the year 👇🏼

📖 almond (finished)
oh my god, this book was soooo good! if you haven’t read this, please read it. it’s such a special and unique story, my favourite book of this year so far! i’ll definitely write a more detailed review for this one soon! 🥹

🎧 dear good morning (finished)
this was a dutch audiobook and my attempt to become a morning person (which is far from what i am). will i follow these tips? i don’t know, maybe a few of them. i can always try!

📖 all fours (30%)
my first book club book, and what a weird one to start with! i’d never heard of this one before, so i went into this completely blindly. after almost every sentence i think ‘wait, what??’ and i actually really like that. maybe weird books will become my thing.

mid year tbr 📚

‘let’s finish my physical tbr this year!’ said my optimistic self in january… yeah… not happening girl. the number of books has only gone up, because i have no s(h)elf-control 💁🏼‍♀️

but let’s prioritise my tbr for the second half of the year! if you see a book on here you really liked, tell me in the comments why i should read it soon. make me hyped for these books instead of wanting to buy new ones 🫶🏻

💌 physical books
✰ six of crows
✰ the letter for the king
✰ surrounded by idiots
✰ james
✰ ugly love
✰ in the lives of puppets
✰ cleopatra and frankenstein
✰ the girl who fell beneath the sea
✰ almond (just finished)
✰ iron flame (currently reading)

💌 e-books
✰ the vanishing half
✰ it
✰ raak me. niet.
✰ verlies me. niet.
✰ all the bright places
✰ if we were villains
✰ the martian

the new series on my booksta where i yap about my life and current reads 🫶🏻

☕️ life update
survived the rainy deadline days at work, yay! i’ve been pretty tired these days, but thankfully the sun is finally back and i hope that will give me some energy. a few days ago i went mini golfing with my dad and little brother (i sadly lost). we also went out for lunch and i had this delicious goat cheese toast with honey and nuts 🥰

📖 iron flame (54%)
i’ve reached the second part of iron flame and omg guys… i was soooo hooked! the last few chapters were AMAZING. don’t want to spoil anything, but the story seems to be going a completely different direction and i’m here for it!

📖 almond (32%)
looking for a shorter book to read in between, i went for almond, and i’m so glad i chose this one! this might become my first 5 star read of the year. completely loving this book since page one. the story, the writing style, the character development… it’s all perfection 💜

the new series where i yap about my life and current reads 🫶🏻

☕️ life update
my mom went on vacation with my little brother for a week, which meant i had the whole house to myself. i had to work a lot, but i invited some friends over on my free days and it was really fun! i also got a new little couch for my bedroom and it’s so cozy, check my last slide! 🤍

📖 iron flame (40%)
haven’t been reading a lot due to my social activities and work. i’m now at a point where i’m struggling a bit with the thickness of iron flame (slow reader problems). luckily this book consists of two parts, so my plan is to keep reading until i get to the second part and then i’ll take a break to read another quicker book in between.

spring wrap up 🌷

noticing a pattern of me being in reading slumps during springtime, which is weird, because spring is my favourite season… i’ll definitely investigate this matter 🧐

here are all the books i’ve read in the second quarter of the year:

📖 misery (4⭐)
🎧 the flatshare (3,5⭐)
📖 book lovers (4⭐)
🎧 aristotle & dante discover the secrets of the universe (4⭐)
📖 de chabotten gezinsverpakking (4⭐)

sophie’s diary 💌

🤍 hi friends!
i’ve recently realized that my favourite kind of posts to make are the more personal ones, where i share a little more about my life than just books. i usually did that in my monthly photo dumps, but i wanted to create a series where i can share these life updates more often, so welcome to sophie’s diary! 🫶🏻

☕️ life update
these days feel a little chaotic for me. i work at an office and every start of a new quarter of the year means a month full of deadlines. i also have many social activities planned, so this girl is quite busy. some highlights (see photos) were getting my nails done again, going out for lunch with my dad, browsing the beautiful bookstore in zwolle and enjoying the sunny weather ☀️

📖 iron flame (33%)
i was a little scared because of the 800 pages and mixed reviews, but it’s been a year and a half since i’ve read fourth wing, so i thought it was time to pick up iron flame. so far i’m really enjoying it and i’m very curious about what will happen next. i love being back in basgiath with these characters and dragons 🐉
