POSTS STORIES REELS
It’s almost a month since we went to Israel and spent the week giving to our brothers and sisters. And I just keep going back to the same thoughts. We are a nation like no other. And there is a love for this nation and a country that runs so deep. We are so intertwined with each other, there isn’t one without the other. The places we went to, the stories we heard, the people we met, and the things we saw have forever changed me. I am not the same person who landed on New Years Eve in JFK as the one who took off Dec 21 from Newark. The signs of war, death and pain are everywhere. But so are the signs of faith, love, strength, resilience, and unity. In the pain, and in the sadness and anger, there is a fire burning to live, to stay alive and to overcome. We have to remember that as living, breathing human beings, we have an obligation to continue living, with passion, and with life, for those who can’t. So let’s stay united and be proud of who are. Let’s continuing showing up, fighting this global war together, and praying that we finally usher in the redemption and a time of truth, peace, and tranquility. ‎משיחow! #proudtobeajew #israeliandjewish #amyisraelchai #mikamchayisrael #israelatwar #strengthandresilience by @slp_runner

In honor of #globalrunningday … forever grateful to lacing up those shoes roughly 15 years ago. This sport has brought so much joy, (a little pain 😂), friendship, sunshine and a lot of bling 🫠 into my life and I can’t imagine it any other way. It teaches me, challenges me, makes me feel alive, keeps me on my toes and constantly pushes me forward (both figuratively and literally …) 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ Getting out the door is almost always the hardest part, and sometimes it does suck. But it’s always worth it. Every single time. (ironically, I did not run today 🙈) by @slp_runner
💯 fun from start to finish! Lots of friends, cheer and good vibes along the entire course. From Prospect Park to Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and Times Square and one epic push to finish with @nicejewishrunners cheer zone - Sunday did not disappoint. #NYCHalfUnlocked #milesforMatan #19HM #medalmonday by @slp_runner
Stepped into a snow globe #blizzard2026 Heard on the promenade “the snow is great for a snowman. It’s like sticky snow” ‘Twas very sticky indeed. Peaceful, beautiful and snow magical ❄️ by @slp_runner
Chanuka Night 8🔥 Zot Chanuka The last day of Chanukah captures and encompasses all of Chanuka. When all eight lights have been lit, we say: “Zot Chanukah.” Literally “this is Chanukah”. The fact that the day’s moniker is “This Is Chanukah,” leads us to conclude that in some way this day expresses the essence of what Chanukah is and is the culmination of the preceding seven days. On that note wanted to share the following: There is something about a candle that makes it more spiritual than physical. A physical substance, when spread, becomes thin. Spirituality, when spread, expands and grows. When you use something physical, it is diminished. The more money you spend, the less you have; the more gasoline you use, the more empty your tank becomes; the more food you eat, the more you need to restock your pantry. But spiritual things increase with use. If I use my wisdom to teach, the student learns, and I come out wiser for it; if I share my love with another, I become more loving, not less. When you give a spiritual gift, the recipient gains, and you lose nothing. This is the spiritual property that candles share. When you use one candle to light another, the original candle remains bright. Its light is not diminished by being shared; on the contrary, the two candles together enhance each other’s brightness and increase light. The more goodness we spread, the more goodness we have. By making a new friend, you become a better friend to your old friends. By having another child, you open a new corridor of love in your heart that your other children benefit from, too. By teaching more students, you become wiser. Keep lighting your candles. There is an endless supply of light in your soul. You will never run out of goodness. Chanuka Night Seven 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 “In the homes of those who away the dawn, a hidden light already shines.” At the threshold of liberation, darkness filled the land of Egypt. Yet in the homes of those to be liberated, there was only light. Light is our true place and light is our destiny. As dawn approaches, darkness shakes heaven and earth in the final throes of its demise. But those who belong to light and cleave to it with all their hearts have nothing to fear. Even as they fall into the deepest caverns where no stone glimmers, no path yields promise, and all meaning seems unfathomable, even there that light will lead them. It will reveal to them the treasures that lie there, that they must rescue for their own liberation. All is truly light. For darkness is created to vanish, but light is forever. Chanuka Night Six 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Shabbat Chanuka and Shabbat Rosh Chodesh: Posting early because you know. Shabbos. The order of lighting is to first light the Menorah candles and then Shabbat candles. Candle lighting for NYC is 4:13 Candle lighting for Jerusalem is 3:59 Also re-sharing last year’s post, because let’s be honest, good messages are worth repeating. While we get ready to light the Chanuka and Shabbat candles, let’s remember that in those days, and in our times, we will prevail. It feels very dark. But we must continue holding on to our soul that’s on fire, and keep the flame burning. “On Shabbat Chanukah, the Shabbat that occurs during Chanukah, two sets of lights are kindled in the Jewish home. However, if you look, in Judaism there are three commandments to light lights. There are the Shabbat candles, the Havdallah candle (lit during the prayer recited when Shabbat ends, marking the end of the holy day and the start of a new mundane week) and the Chanuka candles. The difference between them is that Shabbat candles represent peace in the home. They are lit indoors and are light of the sanctity of marriage and the holiness of home. The Chanukah candles are lit by the window, and outside. Chanukah candles are the light Judaism brings to the world. As for the Havdallah candle, which is always made up of several wicks woven together, it represents the fusion of the two, the inner light of Shabbat, joined to the outer light we make during the six days of the week when we go out into the world and live our faith in public. When we live as Jews in private, when we live as Jews in public, and when we live both together, then we bring light to the world. So as the sun sets tonight, take the extra light, and power and transform the darkness that it may also shine!” (Adapted from Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks OBM) ——- Ended up in Kever Rochel being part of an Erev Rosh Chodesh Davening and Hafrashat Challah. by @slp_runner
Chanuka Night Five - Chevron Edition Every night of Chanuka is a time of joy and celebration. But there is a uniqueness to the fifth night of Chanukah. The fifth night marks the first time more candles are lit than are left unlit, symbolizing a tipping point in bringing light into the world. We know light of Chanukah transforms darkness into light. But darkness is the absence of light. How is it possible that the absence of light could be transformed into light? Because there is nothing without purpose, and purpose is light. It is only that some stories of our life hide their purpose, so that they appear dark. What must you do? You must squeeze their light out of them, as one squeezes oil from an olive. It may hurt, at times, to be squeezed this way. But then, those stories of life, too, will shine. And their light will reveal wisdom that no other light could reveal. That is why we wait until it is dark to light the Chanukah menorah. And that is why we light them in public places. Because, with these flames, we are igniting the darkness itself, and revealing that even the darkness is truly divine light. Tzvi Freeman/Chabad.org Dedicated to the heroes in green who fight in the dark, who were injured in the line of duty and who lost their lives protecting and defending the land of our fathers and mothers. by @slp_runner
Walked the southern ramparts of the almost 500 year old walls during Chanuka 🕎 The path started at the Tower of David, where we saw Hasmonean styled stones from the 2nd century BCE, and finished close to the Kotel! How can one identify a Hasmonean era stone? It's smaller than a Herodian stone and has a protruding belly as opposed to the flat Herodian style stone. Most recently, a 2,100-year-old Hasmonean-era wall was unearthed on the grounds of the Tower of David complex in the Old City. So many exciting things happening in this holy city! Chanuka Night Four - Menorah Crawl Edition The Chanukah Lights which are kindled in the darkness of night recall to our minds memories of the past: the war that the Hasmoneans waged against huge Syrian armies, their victory, the dedication of the Temple, the rekindling of the Menorah, the small quantity of oil that lasted for many days, and so on. This chapter of our history has repeated itself frequently. We, as Jews, have always been outnumbered; many tyrants attempted to destroy us because of our faith. Sometimes they aimed their poisoned arrows at our bodies, sometimes at our souls, and, sad to say, many of our brethren have for one reason or another turned away from G‑d and His Torah and tried to make life easier by accepting the rule of the conqueror. In such times of distress we must always be like that faithful band of Hasmoneans, and remember that there is always a drop of ‘pure olive oil’ hidden deep in the heart of every Jew, which, if kindled, bursts into a big flame. This drop of ‘pure olive oil’ is the ‘Perpetual Light’ that must and will pierce the darkness of our present night, until everyone of us will behold the fulfillment of the prophet’s promise for our ultimate redemption and triumph. And as in the days of the Hasmoneans ‘the wicked will once again be conquered by the righteous, and the arrogant by those who follow G‑d’s laws, and our people Israel will have a great salvation.’ Adapted from a letter of the Rebbe titled ‘A little band of Hasmoneam’ In honor and memory of Dr Feldman, Moshe ben Michal, whose Yartzeit (anniversary of passing) is tonight and tomorrow, 28 Kislev, fourth candle. by @slp_runner
Chanuka Night Three … Jerusalem Lights Light, brightness, radiance, are metaphors we use when we wish to speak about hope, wisdom, or goodness. The candle flame, the ray of light, the glowing coal — these are the images in which we recognize our yearning for a better world, for a wiser, more virtuous, more G‑dly self. We are encouraged by the fact that a luminous body like the sun, can have such a profound effect on entities and beings millions of miles away, enriching them with light, warmth, energy and life. We are encouraged by the fact that a tiny flame can banish a roomful of darkness. If so, all is not lost. If our own souls are “candles of G‑d”, then little me is not so little after all. All we need to do is be what we truly are, to act out our innate goodness, and the darkness will melt away. Once a year, we celebrate this truth. For eight days and nights, we celebrate the power of light: in ascending number — one little flame on the first evening, two flames on the second, three on the third — we kindle the Chanukah menorah, recalling that miraculous victory, 22 centuries ago, of quality over quantity, spirit over materialism, right over might. And pray for the day when such victories are no longer “miracles”, but the way things are in G‑d’s world. (Yankee Tauber/Chabad.org) by @slp_runner
