School SLPs, here are 7 things nobody prepares you for in grad school... 👀👇

① Your therapy schedule is subject to change at least three times a week, if not more...

② Always have a backup activity ready because the session you planned and the session that happens are RARELY ever the same.

③ Never assume an IEP meeting will actually start or end on time.

④ The student who is NEVER absent will somehow be absent on the day you've planned to start their 3-year testing.

⑤ If you have five minutes between groups, someone WILL find you and ask, "Do you have a quick second?"

⑥ No one knows everything, including the SLP who's been practicing for 20 years. Asking questions, collaborating with colleagues, and continuing to learn are all strengths and not weaknesses.

⑦ Celebrate EVERY bit of student progress, no matter how small. The little victories are some of the best parts of being a school SLP. 🥹

Would you add anything to the list? 💗 by @slptoolkit

If you're a school SLP, you know there are certain moments that can make your ENTIRE day.

⑤ When a student remembers their speech time and shows up to the speech room without you having to go get them.
We love a student who knows the schedule better than we do. 😂

④ When a teacher tells you they've noticed how much progress a student is making in speech.
Hearing that those skills are carrying over into the classroom is EVERYTHING. 🥹

③ When a student FINALLY masters a skill they've been working on for months.
We're celebrating like they just won an Olympic gold medal. 🥇

② When you find out your lunch duty has been canceled.
An uninterrupted free period?! We hardly know what to do with ourselves. 😂

① When a parent tells you how thankful they are for the difference you've made in their child's life.
These are the moments that remind us why we love what we do. 🥰

School SLPs, tag your work bestie in the comments...and see if they agree with our #1 pick! by @slptoolkit

School-based SLPs, please tell us you've had one of THESE days. 🫠😂

Whether it's unexpected students added to your caseload, last-minute IEP meetings, or another duty added to your already-full schedule...

Sometimes you really do need to go back to your room and process what just happened. 😂

What's the most unexpected thing that's been added to your plate this school year? 👇🏻 by @slptoolkit

Well, we finally got the apology from Amazon we were waiting for. 😂

Kidding, obviously. But after yesterday, we figured we've earned the right to have a little fun.

For those who missed it, an issue with our Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosting account took SLP Toolkit offline yesterday. And just when we thought things couldn't get more interesting, it took our email down too. So we couldn't even reach you to explain what was happening.

In the nearly 11 year history of our app, we've never experienced anything like this. Our team worked nonstop to get everything restored, and we're so grateful for the patience, encouragement, and grace you showed us along the way.

We were officially back up and running by early morning today, and couldn't be more thankful for our team and this community. 💗

And Jeff, the offer to make things right with free Prime memberships for our 15,000 SLPs still stands. 😂

P.S. This is a parody. Jeff Bezos did not actually post this, and Barack Obama has no clue who we are. We can dream, though! by @slptoolkit

Yesterday was A LOT. 😅☕️

We know yesterday's SLP Toolkit outage was frustrating, and we appreciate your patience while our team worked to get everything back up and running!

We figured we could ALL use a little extra caffeine today, so we're bringing back an old-school SLP social media favorite!

Coffee's on us! ☕️💗

Swipe for instructions and a shared Starbucks gift card. Grab your favorite drink, and please only use enough for one so we can treat as many SLPs as possible!

It's first come, first served until the balance runs out.

Thanks for hanging in there with us yesterday. We appreciate you more than you know! 💗 by @slptoolkit

It’s official! We have a DR. G in the house!!

Our very own Trish, who leads our district sales team, successfully defended her dissertation at @arizonastateuniversity this morning and has officially earned her Ed.D.!

As if managing a team and helping school districts across the country wasn’t enough, she’s been working toward her doctorate, too!

We know how much time, hard work, and dedication went into reaching this milestone, and we are SO STINKING PROUD of her!

Please help us give a HUGE congratulations to Dr. Patricia Geraghty! 🎓💛 #forksup by @slptoolkit

SLP Toolkit is fully restored and running normally. Before anything else, thank you.

On October 28, 2026 an issue with our hosting provider's account took our platform offline. Nothing like this has happened in our 10 years. It also impacted our email, so for part of the day we couldn't even reach you to explain what was going on. We know that silence was hard, and we hated it as much as you did.

You are the reason we build SLP Toolkit. Every feature, every late night, every decision comes back to helping you do your best work for your students. Knowing your caseloads and deadlines didn't stop while we were down is exactly why our team refused to stop either.

We are incredibly proud of our team. They worked nonstop to rebuild access, and by midday many of you were back in while they finished bringing everything else online.

They did it because they care about you, and it showed.

To everyone who waited with us, sent encouragement, and gave us grace: thank you.
It meant more than you know.

If anything looks off in your account, reach us at hello@slptoolkit.com and we'll take care of it.

Now back to our regularly scheduled memes. 🩷 by @slptoolkit

There's one person school SLPs tend to forget about when they're making sure everyone else's needs are met. 👀

Between making sure students receive their service minutes, adjusting schedules, preparing for IEP meetings, and advocating for students, it's easy for your own needs to end up at the bottom of the list.

We know how much thought and care you put into supporting your students. 💗

As you head into another busy school week, we hope you'll remember to give yourself some of that same consideration.

Your time is important, too.

💗 Which of these reminders did you need to hear today? Tell us in the comments! 👇 by @slptoolkit

Toolkit outage update. Thank you for your patience 🙏 by @slptoolkit

POV: You're a school SLP leaving an IEP meeting where EVERYONE agreed on the plan. 😂🙌

The student had a voice in the conversation, the parent felt heard, and the teacher and therapy team were all on the same page.

Now the whole team is walking out like they just closed a million-dollar deal. 😂💰

Apple, school SLPs have a few VERY specific requests for your next emoji update. 📱😂

We appreciate the 🧸, but you should know that the PLS-5 bear comes in a VERY specific shade of purple. 💜

We'd also like to request an emoji for the speech room that doubles as a janitor's closet, a schedule that looks like Tetris, an IEP meeting table, and AAC for AAC awareness month. 😂

Of course, we'd love an SLP Toolkit emoji so we can celebrate having our data, scheduling, and progress monitoring all in one place! 💻⚒️

What other emojis do school SLPs deserve? Tell us in the comments! 👇😂 by @slptoolkit

There’s one type of feedback SLPs never seem to be prepared for...an unsolicited review of their singing. 😂🎤

Some of our students have been our harshest vocal critics, and they have NO problem letting us know when they've heard enough. 💀

Does that stop you from showing up to the next speech therapy session ready to give the performance of a lifetime? Absolutely not. 😂

The confidence is there. The talent is still up for debate.

🎤 Share this with an SLP who has been asked to stop singing but continues to perform like she's on The Voice. 😂 by @slptoolkit
