I've spent the better part of 2 weeks trying to figure out what to say. I wrote a whole eulogy and saying goodbye is still hard, even at 102. Grandma, your entire life was a picture of what it looks like to grow closer to Jesus each day. I will miss the way your eyes lit up with joy and you smiled each time you saw me, Billy or the kids; your sweet "I love you"s; your laugh; hearing the way you talked about good God has been to us; everything. I will live my life, doing my very best to follow your wisdom and how you lived - staying close to Jesus (and now you're with Him!). I love you, Grandma and I miss you already. by @slstatema

As I was coloring with my daughter on this rainy day, I was reminded of just how relaxing and rejuvenating coloring and crafting is. I hope the activity books we are able to provide for the residents at Sunrise bring relaxation and joy to them as well!

This week I'm running a book drive benefitting the residents of "Sunrise of Park Ridge", which is an assisted living home in the Chicago suburbs. My grandpa spent over 2 years there and the people there are wonderful.
All funds donated will be used to purchase activity books, classics and more for the residents to bring some cheer. ☀️ There are about 80 residents there - can we get them each a book?! No donation is too small! Each donation will be matched 50% too (so $20 donates $30 in books!)! 🥳(Some of the books will also go to the VA Skilled nursing home my grandpa is currently in where there are just a few residents 😃 )

Ellie asked me a while ago if we could do a fundraiser for Ukraine and has been hard at work painting, drawing, making bracelets, etc for it! Tomorrow is the day!

We will be set up in our driveway from 12:30-4:30pm (Sat, 4/23) with lemonade, chocolate chip cookies, paintings, drawings, bracelets and magnets for sale! 100% of purchases and donations will be donated to Ukraine. Stop on by and say hi!! 👋

If you're not local you can certainly still participate! We can accept zelle, PayPal, Venmo or cash.

We will donate funds raised to Ukrainian Baptist Church in Berwyn which packs trucks with aid to go from Poland through Lviv and war torn regions, and sponsors a bakery in Kyiv baking and distributing free bread.

As a mom there is nothing that compares to your children choosing to follow Jesus, witnessing them proclaim it is a pretty close second though. Baptizing my daughter alongside @markshoemaker3 was a privilege beyond words. As a mom, we pray for our kids, disciple them, teach and desire to see them make faith in Jesus their own - today was a beautiful picture of a journey that never ends. Keep growing, keep trusting, keep learning, and knowing the One who is everything.

Tomorrow my amazing sister will be running the Chicago marathon! I cannot even tell you how proud I am of her and how excited I am to cheer her on! (I will have no voice by the end). She has put in the training, done the hard work of preparation and she is ready! If it wasn't enough for her to run 26.2 miles, she has also raised enough money to provide clean water for 77 people through world vision. @kristenjulia I am proud to be your sister, pray with you, and be your cheerleader! by @slstatema

I think someone's a little excited to start school this year! 😆 Our Language Arts curriculum came today and she wasted no time. I, on the other hand, am more excited to be planning our science and social studies lessons for the year 🎉
