Had the chance to create two tees for the @community_goods and @nhlblackhawks project at @mclarkeagles high school. Me and @joefreshgoods been homies for 2 plus decades and we both got big love for our side of town. The purpose of the store is to inspire and motivate the next generation of creatives. Students will have the opportunity to earn points by demonstrating pre-defined positive behaviors, such as good grades, merits, and acts of kindness. These points can be redeemed for school supplies, sneakers, special merchandise, and experiences. Recently had the chance to speak to the students of Michele Clark High School about my journey into entrepreneurship, specifically the journey doing this from the Westside of Chicago. I always enjoy pouring into the youth of our community! Planting those seeds for the future for real. I really feel like it’s up to us to be the “Blessing” in the “God Bless the Westside” mission. . Mike Cox’s designs were already part of Michele Clark. Now, students got to meet the entrepreneur behind them. Michele Clark Academic Preparatory Magnet High School was stop two of the From Chicago School Tour, where our CEO, Britney, welcomed the founder of @sogochicago back to a building where his work had already made an impact. In 2023, Mike designed pieces for the merit-based store built inside Michele Clark, where students can use merits they’ve earned to shop for gear. His return gave students a chance to hear the story behind SoGo and learn how he turned his creativity into a business. SoGo — short for “So Chicago” — puts the city’s culture front and center. From “God Bless the West Side” tees to a Chécagou hockey jersey repping the 312, Mike has built a brand rooted in the place that raised him. And that’s exactly why we wanted him in the room. The next big idea out of Chicago might already be sitting in a classroom on the West Side. 🔥 📍 Next stop: Wendell Phillips Academy High School. This past weekend…after 6 years…I closed the doors on “The Crib” for the final time. This place meant so much to me man. So many memories over the years. The brand was built in between these walls. I mean it literally was the last place I physically spoke to my pops at. I want to thank everyone that played a part in making this place special.
