Meet Jacques..

Jacques is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose love for music began at the age of five, playing his grandmother’s piano on quiet weekends.

After spending time in London and the Isle of Wight, he returned to South Africa where he picked up a guitar, started writing songs and began performing at open mic nights across Johannesburg. A chance meeting with drummer Isaac led to Airship Orange and later the SAMA Award-winning Shadowclub, establishing Jacques as a powerful frontman in the South African rock scene.

Over the years he has explored rock, blues, folk and solo projects, yet his deep love for dance music remained. That passion reignited when he and Isaac began experimenting again, eventually finding their sound in house music.

With their latest release, Jacques and Isaac step into a new chapter, blending rhythm, emotion and years of evolution into music that moves both body and spirit.

Meet Isaac.. ⚡️

“I started playing drums at age 14 and immediately joined a garage band with my brother and our close friend. I was instantly hooked. I played and practiced all day, alot of the time travelling from rehearsal to rehearsal, often juggling 3 bands at once. Like most young bands we started off playing covers and eventually transitioned into writing our own music. We began incorporating synthesizers and programmed drums into our songs and this was what started a long love affair with electronic music production. In the many years that followed I performed all over South Africa, touring and recording with many rock n roll and pop bands but was constantly experimenting with beat making and loop production on the side. In 2009 I began producing tracks on a laptop, with headphones. I tried hard to emulate the sounds, grooves, and power that I felt in the songs that I loved. Many years later and I’m still trying to do that, although I’ve managed (somewhat) to find my own voice and style through the many projects I’ve been involved in. Small Fears is my most recent, and so far the most mature expression of my love for beat making and my desire to give people that same feeling I have when I hear my favorite tunes.” by @smallfearsmusic

After our debut EP in 2020, life took us on a wild ride, but now, with both of us finally based in Cape Town, we’ve been locked in the studio carving out a new chapter for Small Fears.

Our first single in 5 years, “Deep Inner Light”, drops Friday 12 September. A dance-fueled, melodic shift from our grittier roots, designed to make you move, get lost, and feel.

This is just the beginning… more music, live shows and more love coming soon.

We’d love your support. Please like, share, spread the word, and get ready to step into the light with us.
