POSTS STORIES REELS

Are you seeking inspiration to overthrow an evil rotting empire in the throes of collapse?

Have you been searching for a place where you can watch documentaries and films that prominently feature themes of resistance that your significant other would definitely fall asleep to if you decided to watch it at home by yourself?

Would you like to share in deep conversations with likeminded others about the critical analysis of such films?

Then join the Clandestine Cinema Club Premieres!

Our first film will be (1984) The Good Fight: The Abraham Lincoln Brigade in the Spanish Civil War.

Directed by Mary Dore, Noel Buckner, and Sam Sills, and narrated by Studs Terkel

“This documentary examines the experiences of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, using interviews with survivors more than 50 years later. First, the film sets the context with the rise of Fascism. Then, in 1936, Spain’s military revolts against the elected government, and the U.S. and Europe agree not to intervene. In response, volunteers snuck past border guards into Spain to fight with the Republicans. The men and women veterans describe the perils of reaching Spain, limited training, responsibilities of command thrust on the very young, deprivations of a soldier’s life, lack of matériel, horrible rates of casualties, and ultimate vindication at the end of World War II.” by @smalltownsociety

THE LAB | NOVEMBER 11

Join us for another night of live music, creativity, and community as we welcome LIV J to The LAB!

MEET THE ARTIST: LIV J
Liv J makes music that forces feeling to the surface. Music for the in-between moments, when you catch your reflection in the mirror or step away from a crowded room. Her powerful voice and lingering melodies on the piano capture themes of liberation and nostalgia through the worship and indie alt-rock influences she was raised on. Liv J is based in San Francisco, and has an EP coming out hopefully towards the end of the year.

Come experience an evening of music, connection, and artistic expression. As always, we’ll be making space for local voices through our community open mic.

📅 Wednesday, November 11, 2026
🕢 7:30 PM
📍 The Clinic

Bring a friend, discover something new, and be part of the creative community we’re building together.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!

And yes, that means YOU! Whether you’re a seasoned artist, a casual creative, or someone who just loves making things, we invite you to be part of something meaningful.

WELCOME HOME | Community Art Contest

For our neighbors experiencing homelessness, the journey toward stable housing can be long and difficult. At FirstPres, some shelter guests wait more than a year, and others have waited several years, to find a place to call home.

We believe everyone deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and celebrated. And art can help us do just that.

Here’s how it works:
Create a piece of art featuring the words “Welcome Home.”

Your artwork will be displayed in our shelter, offering encouragement and hope to guests along their journey.
When a guest receives a housing match, they’ll get to choose a piece of artwork to take with them as a reminder that their community is cheering them on.

A few things to know:
* Artwork must be suitable for hanging and smaller than 3 ft. × 3 ft.
* Drop off your artwork at the FirstPres Church Office.
* Deadline: December 1
* Registration is required, and all artwork will remain with the shelter until chosen by a guest.

LINK IN BIO TO REGISTER!

You don’t have to be a professional artist to make someone feel at home. Just bring your creativity and your heart.
Let’s fill our shelter walls with reminders that everyone belongs.

Last night was such an amazing time at the Taste of Castro Valley! 🎨

I was honored to be invited out to set up my artwork and represent @haywardartscouncil alongside so many talented local artists. It was great connecting with new artists, meeting people from the community, and seeing everyone come out to support local art, restaurants, and small businesses.

A huge thank you to @rsyrop and Paul for inviting me out and giving me the opportunity to be part of this awesome event!

And a special shoutout to @smalltownsociety and @castrovalleyrotary helping bring this event together and creating such a great experience for the community. 🙌

If you’ve never been to the Taste of Castro Valley, it’s an annual event where you can stroll along the Boulevard, visit local restaurants and businesses, and sample some of their delicious bites while enjoying everything the community has to offer. 🍴🎶

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, checked out my artwork, and showed your support. I had an incredible time and I’m looking forward to doing more events like this!

Cheers to art, community, and supporting local! ❤️🎨
