Tonight’s small town soundtrack is a tribute to Dolly. A flood of memories have come over me throughout the day, and while there are so many songs to choose from for our Dolly Tribute,We’ve Got Tonight is something special. The emotion created by this duet is magical.
As sad as the day has been, and the shock of losing someone who has touched all our hearts, I cannot help but feel filled with tears of gratitude.
How incredibly blessed am I to have had a childhood filled with Dolly? Her music filled our house and our car rides. Her attitude and friendliness were contagious. Her love for the Lord, and the inspiration she provided for girls in the workplace…she was iconic!
The memories of her music and movies with friends and now my own children will forever be a gift. From Dollywood to The Dixie Stampede and every song and movie in between…Thank You, Dolly. 🩷

Deep in my soul
I feel so lonely
All of my hopes fading away
I’ve longed for love
Like everyone else does
I know I’ll keep searching after today

So there it is, girl
We’ve got it all now
And here we are, babe
What do you say?

Tonight’s small town soundtrack hit is from 1981. Daryl Hall and John Oates released the album Voices in 1980, and the song You Make My Dreams Come True became a hit a year later. We have a little pepper happening tonight in the backyard. Looks like we have the Tarheels, Rebs, and The Tide all in action. Missing you @tidefueledcory!

Tonight’s small track soundtrack hit is Ella Langley’s Lovin’ Life Again. It was such a beautiful evening at The Illinois State Fairgrounds, and the grandstand was sold out to see Ella Langley. So thankful for the opportunity to share the love of music with Harper Jo this evening. 🩷

Tonight’s Small Town Soundtrack is a fast forward hit is from 2010…Justin Bieber’s BABY! JB recorded this song when he was 15 years old. It never gets old…great tune!

You know you love me, I know you care
Just shout whenever, and I’ll be there
You are my love, you are my heart
And we will never, ever, ever be apart

Tonight’s Small Town Soundtrack hit is Jackson Browne’s Somebody’s Baby. This song was released July 1982…I had just turned two years old. The St. Louis Cardinals were on a roll, and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial had just been on the big screen.

Well, just look at that girl with the lights coming up in her eyes
She’s got to be somebody’s baby

In 1975 The Eagles released their fourth studio album, One of These Nights. Take it to the Limit was one of the hits from this record, topping out at number 4 on The Billboard Top 100.

So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time

Tonight’s small town soundtrack hit is an absolute banger. The Outfield released Your Love on the Play Deep soundtrack in 1985, but the song became popular on radio in 1986. I later saw The Outfield in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for their Extra Innings Era after seeing a Pelicans baseball game. Tickets to see The Outfield were $10. Rightfully so, Your Love was the closing song. It was epic. ☺️

Tonight’s small town soundtrack hit is from 1981. How crazy blessed am I to live in a time to hear Ronnie Milsap sing these words? Life brings so many ups and downs…but I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

I wouldn’t have missed it for the world
Wouldn’t have missed loving you girl
You’ve made my whole life worth while
With your smile
I wouldn’t trade one memory
‘Cause you mean too much to me
Even though I lost you girl
I wouldn’t have missed it for the world

Tonight’s small town soundtrack song is from the classic TV show The Dukes of Hazzard which came out on TV in 1979. Waylon Jennings sang this hit, The Good Ol’ Boys, making it the theme song for series that ran through 1985. Growing up in small town America in the early 1980s means you were sitting criss cross applesauce on shag carpet watching Bo, Luke, and Daisy Duke run all over Hazzard County!

Makin’ their way the only way they know how
That’s just a little bit more than the law will allow
