It’s official. I am done—and I did it with a Second Class Upper.

When I look back at the person who first stepped into the sociology department years ago, I see someone who was curious but naive about how the world works. Today, as I submit my final year project and graduate with a 2:1, I feel like I am finally seeing the bigger picture.

My project, titled “[Causes and Consequences of Alcohol consumption among youth in Lagos state ]”, challenged me to move beyond textbook theories and engage with the messy, beautiful reality of human interaction. There were moments of frustration—data that didn’t fit, writers’ block at 3 AM, and statistics that refused to make sense. But I pushed through. Every late night, every rewrite, every “aha” moment led to this.

Bagging a Second Class Upper wasn’t just about grades—it was about proving to myself that I could balance intellectual curiosity with academic excellence. Sociology has given me a lens to view the world not just as it is, but as it could be.

To my family who believed in me, my supervisor who pushed me, and my friends who kept me sane—thank you. This BSc (2:1) isn’t just mine; it’s ours.
