“...6 years, breaking ice, building a new solution in Lagos. A solution to the artisan “wicked problem” that exists, where to have good repairs, you must fight, shout, threaten, sit down to monitor an artisan who may still do rubbish or run away with your money. So the customer begins to suspect any artisan. On the other hand, the artisan is also suspecting the customer too, lots of customers don’t pay the agreed amount on time, or owe indefinitely, and the artisans depend on this income to survive, take care of family, school fees, health bills, etc. so this breeds an unending cycle of “wickedness”.

Soo, I got interested and wanted to create a safe environment for artisans and customers to interact, you know, where you don’t have to be anxious when something breaks down and you need reliable repairs, with guarantees.

To achieve this, we had to create a community of artisans, a non profit, SmartFix Artisans Community. Through which we train artisans, give certifications, awards, soft loans, accident insurance, legal support, and more jobs. We also introduced disciplinary measures to maintain positive conduct among artisans. So glad this worked.

For customers, they only need to request for repairs and they can truly sit down and relax. And voila, problem solved. Stress free, no one is running with your money, you have an admin who’ll walk with you till the end of the project, you get quality repairs, with guarantees, full transparency on pricing and all very affordable.

What makes us different is our artisans community and true love. Artisans now always have other artisans to share their birthdays with, and the necessary support to succeed in Nigeria.

It’s been such a journey, 6 years. Wow!
