Grey at 30? Blame your parents.

Premature greying is overwhelmingly genetic. In a study of over 6,000 people, family history came out roughly thirteen times stronger than any other factor, smoking and obesity showed up too, but far behind it. Link to the study in bio.

Smoking’s the one you can do something about. Smokers were around 2.5 times more likely to go grey before 30.

Everything else you’ve read, the B12 fixes, the stress theories, is thinner than the internet suggests.

Grey hair is worth a doctor’s attention is when it arrives alongside something else: sudden fatigue, weight changes, feeling generally off. Then it’s not about the hair.
