I've been bad about remembering to post my images of the Sun when I get them, but here are the ones from today. I may start making a weekly or monthly video of the images I get during those time frames. by @smassky

These four images of the Sun highlight the intricate details of sunspots, each in a different color to reveal subtle variations in contrast and texture.

☀️🔥 Sunspots are regions of intense magnetic activity, and seeing them in different wavelengths helps us understand the Sun’s dynamic surface.

If you’re into space, astrophotography, or solar observation, don’t forget to follow/subscribe for more real footage of the Sun, Moon, and deep space!

Plus, I stream live solar and lunar views on Youtube—come watch the sky in real time!

Images of the Sun from today's Youtube Stream. Same image but color, inverted color, inverted mono, and normal mono.

The little shadow in the top right corner was a tree branch still in the way.

Here is a photo of the Sun from yesterday's YouTube live stream, with 3 variations, inverse color, monochrome, and inverse monochrome.

I like how the different variations highlight the sunspots and some of the other details.

This morning the sky was completely clear. We're supposed to have a tropical system move in later today. If I don't stream today, you can always watch my other videos or live stream replays.

Checkout the photos from today's YouTube live streams! Can you spot the mistake in these photos?

First one is obviously color, then monochrome, inverse monochrome, and then inverse color.

You can find the links for the horizontal and vertical streams/replays in one of the community posts over on the YouTube channel. Just search @smassky on youtube!

Here are some images of the #sun from yesterday and today!

The first one is from yesterday (7/23) taken just before 3pm. It was around 63.6° above the western horizon.

The second image is from today, taken at 2:36pm and was near 69° above the horizon.

The third image is a composit of the two images.

The fourth image is a closeup of a plage, or bright region on the suns chromosphere. These are usually associated with concentrations of magnetic fields. They can influence space weather and contribute to solar radiation that affects Earth.

This is a composit of the sun, created from a bunch of images taken during my youtube live streams in May this year. I learned this cool technique from @_estrellascompartidas_ it's a pretty cool way to visualize or capture the dynamic activity most of us never see. by @smassky

I took a video of a telescope using my telescope! Here I tracked @nasahubble as it orbited Earth at around 547 kilometers (340miles) above the surface at 27,300 kilometers an hour (17,500mph).

A few days prior to this, Hubble was put into safe mode when one of its three gyroscopes gave unexpected readings.

The gyroscopes are essential to ensure the telescope is pointed safely in the direction it needs to be in order to image distant objects and to ensure proper solar panel illumination and data links.

@nasa expects Hubble will continue functioning and providing data that will lead to amazing discoveries throughout the rest of the decade and possibly beyond.

Stay tuned as I plan to get better at tracking Hubble, the Chinese Space Station Tiangong, and of course @iss . by @smassky
