💸 3 VAN REPAIRS THAT CAN COST YOU THOUSANDS… If you own a diesel van, these are 3 repair bills you REALLY don’t want. 😳🔧 🔥 1. TURBO Loss of power, smoke, strange whining noises or your van going into limp mode? Your turbo could be failing — and depending on the damage, it can quickly become an expensive repair. 💉 2. INJECTORS Injector problems can cause rough running, poor starting, excessive smoke, loss of power and poor fuel economy. At SMC, when injectors need replacing, we generally recommend replacing all 4 together rather than doing them one at a time. It can cost more upfront, but where appropriate it can help avoid repeatedly paying labour and coming back as another ageing injector fails. 🚨 3. HEAD GASKET Potential overheating, coolant loss, white smoke or pressure in the cooling system? A head gasket failure can mean a BIG repair bill — especially if you continue driving and cause further engine damage. ⚠️ The biggest mistake? IGNORING THE WARNING SIGNS. 🚨 YOUR MECHANIC SAYS YOUR DPF IS BLOCKED… BUT WHY? First things first… what actually IS a DPF? 👀 DPF stands for Diesel Particulate Filter — and its job is to catch soot from your diesel engine before it comes out of the exhaust. 💨 But when your mechanic tells you “your DPF is blocked”, simply dealing with the blockage might NOT solve the problem. ⚠️ You need to know WHY it blocked in the first place. A blocked DPF can be linked to things like: 🔧 Lots of short journeys / failed regeneration 🔧 Engine faults causing excessive soot 🔧 EGR problems 🔧 Injector issues 🔧 Sensor faults 🔧 The engine not reaching the correct temperature 🔧 DPF regeneration repeatedly being interrupted And this is the important bit 👇 If you don’t find the ROOT CAUSE, the DPF can just block again. That’s why proper diagnostics matter. Don’t just treat the symptom — find out WHY it happened.
