My little baby graduated from college on May 5th and I’m already nostalgic for this chapter of life.

The quarterly report card update, the complaints about math, the latest friendship drama. The calls and texts for advice. The life updates.

I wonder if she knows everything changes, and nothing changes at all.

Report cards turn into 6-month reviews and assessments. Math turns into taxes. Friendship drama evolves.

We’re on the same playing field now, right? Both in the so called real world. But I hope she knows she can always count on me.

I want the updates, I want to help, I want to be needed and to comfort and to be there.

I wonder if she knows she is capable of far more than her mind can comprehend or fathom.

I wonder if she knows the same way life gets more difficult, it also gets more beautiful.

I wonder if she knows that even though I’m so proud of her, what’s most important is that she is proud of herself.
