One of the best pieces of acting advice I’ve ever received was: go to script readings.

This week, I had the privilege of participating in a Juneteenth online script reading, and it completely exceeded my expectations.

What I expected was a simple table read.

What I experienced felt much more like live theatre.

The organizers created such a professional production. We had talented actors, costumes, virtual backgrounds, and thoughtful direction that truly brought the scripts to life. It reminded me how powerful great writing and committed performances can be, even in a virtual space.

Beyond the performances, I also came away with a deeper appreciation for the conversations surrounding justice, community, and human connection. It was an evening that was both creatively inspiring and genuinely thought-provoking.

Most importantly, I met wonderful filmmakers and actors, and I’m so grateful to everyone involved for creating such a welcoming environment.

A special thank you to my friend who encouraged me to start participating in script readings. It has become one of my favorite ways to keep my acting muscles sharp, collaborate with talented creatives, and build lasting friendships in this industry.

Thank you to the incredible organizers!

And to the wonderful cast:

I can’t wait for the next one.
