During Poshan Maah, conversations across communities brought nutrition, anaemia, menstrual hygiene and preventive healthcare into everyday dialogue. Interactions at schools and Anganwadi centres allowed women and children to share experiences, ask questions and explore healthier practices.

These exchanges created space for understanding, trust and informed choices, supporting the Government of India’s efforts towards better nutrition.

Bringing Healthcare Closer to Communities in Sonbhadra

Smile Foundation’s Smile on Wheels programme brings primary healthcare closer to communities through regular outreach and mobilisation, helping people stay informed about health services and seek timely care.

Mobile health units provide basic check-ups, maternal and child healthcare, and early identification of health concerns across 12 villages, including Bhaghnari, Paika, Cheroli, Sichota, Nagwa and Pipari, among others.

Alongside these services, IEC sessions focus on nutrition, hygiene and preventive health practices, connecting healthcare with the everyday choices that shape family well-being.

To date, 9,000+ beneficiaries have been reached, towards a target of 14,000, helping extend access to essential healthcare services across the region.

Preparing Young Women for the Future of Engineering

Smile Foundation, with support from Deutsche Bank, is supporting young women pursuing engineering through scholarships and opportunities to build skills beyond the classroom.

In Jaipur, third-year engineering scholars recently participated in a DevOps training, gaining an understanding of how development and operations come together to build, test, deploy and manage software more efficiently. The training introduced students to key DevOps concepts, practices and tools.

The programme continues to bring financial support and relevant learning opportunities together, helping young women strengthen their skills and prepare for a rapidly changing technology landscape.

Safe Hands = Happy Hands

Across communities, Smile Foundation’s healthcare programme is helping children understand how small hygiene habits can make a difference to their health.

Through interactive demonstrations and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) sessions, children learn the correct handwashing technique with soap and water and understand the importance of washing their hands before meals and after using the toilet. In several locations, mothers, elders and other community members also participate, reinforcing the importance of practising hand hygiene at home and within the community.

These sessions highlight how regular handwashing can help prevent common illnesses, including diarrhoeal and respiratory infections, and support better health and well-being.

By encouraging healthy habits from an early age, these efforts promote preventive healthcare and help build healthier communities.

Opening New Pathways to Employment for Young People in Noida

Smile Foundation has joined hands with Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), to launch a Skills Training and Employability Programme at its centre in Khoda, Noida, helping underserved youth prepare for employment in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector.

The initiative aims to equip young people with relevant skills, practical knowledge and the confidence to navigate the world of work. The programme will combine classroom training with career counselling, assessments, certification and placement assistance, helping participants build the skills needed to enter the workforce.

With a target of placing 75–80% of trained youth in relevant jobs, the initiative aims to create pathways to sustainable livelihoods, strengthen household incomes and support young people in leading dignified, self-reliant lives.

We thank Indian Energy Exchange for supporting this initiative and joining us in our effort to make employment opportunities more accessible to underserved youth.
