Yesterday, I said goodbye to my beautiful grandma. It still doesn’t seem real, and I can’t fully put into words what she meant to me and our family.

My grandma was magical, outspoken, and probably the smartest person I knew. Even as she got older, my grandma stayed curious. Always reading, listening, asking questions, and trying to learn all that she could in her life. She always reminded my family to go travel to new places so we can appreciate and experience the beauty of the world.

She carried herself with so much style. No one could wear the color green quite like she could, and her smile could make anyone melt.
She really was iconic, and was an incredible example to all the women in my family. She showed us that it’s okay to take up space, be opinionated & loud, and never let anyone doubt our worth or make us feel small!

My grandma was my comfort person as she had a gift for knowing when I was feeling overwhelmed, angry, or upset. Instead of trying to “fix me” to make herself feel more comfortable. She would sit quietly with me, and just let me feel all those feelings.

Important things my grandma felt everyone should know:
1. Dark chocolate is its own food group that can be enjoyed any time of day, and no such thing as too much!
2. Bathroom jokes have no place at the dinner table.
3. Vernors and whiskey are cures for everything!
4. Music should be played loudly and frequently!

I am lucky that I got to spend 31 years with her. Years full of lessons and memories of her that I will always treasure. For the list of what I’ll miss about her, well that’s endless! She really did make life feel bigger and more meaningful. My family and I were so incredibly blessed to be raised by a light that was as bright as her red hair!

Rest peacefully, Grandma. I’ll love and miss you for the rest of my life! See you when I sleep! ❤️🍀
(PS- Don’t cause too much trouble with Nan, or give my dad too much grief in heaven. Also, don’t worry about grandpa. We got him!) taken in Fairmont, West Virginia by @smileykylie442

Yesterday, I had to say the hardest goodbye. Frank passed away at home peacefully in my arms at 3:45pm. My whole world revolved around him since the day I adopted him. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing in my life, but on that day I was certain that I needed Frank and he needed me. My home is a lot more quiet and empty now. There isn’t a 10lb cat sleeping on top of me at night. There is no one running to greet me at the door when I get home. There is no perfect orange cat following me everywhere I go. My heart is broken.
I’m going to miss everything about him- His little freckle on his ear, little snores, 3am zoomies, and I’ll even miss him walking on my head in the morning to wake me up. Frank truly was iconic and perfect in my eyes. I’m very grateful that he chose me to be his mom, and thankful for his unconditional love. Sleep tight, little one. 🐱❤️🪽 by @smileykylie442

It’s been a little over two weeks since I lost my dad. He was only 53, and I figured we had many more years together. I am heartbroken, but also experiencing some denial. I’m not ready to accept the fact that he is really gone. That I won’t be able to hug him or hear his voice again. We won’t have anymore gossip sessions that drag on for hours. The holiday season is always my favorite time of the year, but right now it just feels pretty dark as I’m reminded that I just lost half of me. I will be forever thankful that I got to have my dad for 30 years, but also sad that I will now have to remember him for longer than I had known him.
Dad, I will always love you! I’ll miss you and your laugh that always seemed to make everything better! ❤️ by @smileykylie442

Dad, I miss you everyday! I frequently catch myself about to text or call you these past months, and have to remind myself that you aren’t on the other end. Just wanted to wish you a Happy Father’s Day! Today may be a hard day, but I will remain so thankful that I got to at least have you for 30 years! Love you forever ❤️ by @smileykylie442

Welcoming the new year with lots of wine, caviar, and my best friend! 🍷🎉

It was a bittersweet celebration last night as we kiss 2025 goodbye. This past year brought some wonderful new people and memories to my life, but also brought a lot of loss and pain. It’s weird since part of me just wanted the holidays and the year to be over with, while another part of me wasn’t ready for the year to end. 2025 will always be the last year that my dad was alive, and so as we are now in year 2026 it sort of feels like we are leaving him behind even though I know he will always be with me.
I am hoping to make a fresh start for 2026 where I continue to figure out what brings me happiness and purpose to my life. 🩷 by @smileykylie442
