The happiest of birthdays to my big sis Shenae

You have always had my back and I hope you know I’ll always have yours. You’re strong, generous, a great mom and auntie, an amazing friend, a talented singer and someone who always makes the people you love feel special.

Seven years ago, I had gone through quite a dramatic experience to deliver my baby girl. She was estimated to be born around 8 or 9 pounds but, they took out a 5lb 3oz little girl via emergency c-section. During the process, feeling my husband rubbing my hand was the only thing that kept me from going into a full panic. After she was born, she spent hours in her Father’s arms during my surgery and recovery. Those arms continued to be her safe space until May 29, 2026. This is her first birthday without her Daddy, but that love that she’s felt from the very moment she was born, will be with her forever. Happy Father’s Day to the man who will always be the love of my life and the father of our children.

Rodney was the kind of dad who made his family feel safe, loved, and cared for. He was patient, faithful, dependable, and always willing to put the needs of others before his own. Whether it was offering encouragement, sharing wisdom, making us laugh, or simply being present, he led our family with love and a servant’s heart.

This Father’s Day is different than we ever imagined. Our hearts miss him deeply, but we are grateful for every memory, every lesson, and every moment we were blessed to share with him.

Thank you for loving us so well. Thank you for being such an incredible father to your children and a godly example to our family. We carry your love with us every day.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad @clyderand . Thank you for being such a godly example of what it means to love and care for your family. You have always been someone we can count on, always willing to help, support, and provide for those you love. Your generosity, faithfulness, and servant’s heart have blessed our family in more ways than we can ever express.

Especially during difficult seasons, you have continued to show up with love, wisdom, encouragement, and support. Thank you so much VCS for putting together this beautiful opportunity for Rodney’s students, my students, staff and family, and the VCS community as a whole, to remember Rodney. It was so touching to hear how much of an impact he made on his students and their families. Reading your cards brings a smile to my face. It reminds me how blessed we were to have him in our lives.

God is good, even when the world is not. God is good even when we don’t see it. God is good even when we are going through the worst times of our lives. God is always working behind the scenes and always turning our morning into dancing. God is going to use the things that have happened to us to better us and better the kingdom. One thing that will never be shaken is my faith. I know the Lord is good. You cannot convince me otherwise, and through my grief and my unimaginable pain, He is with me, guiding me, holding me, and leading me. It’s this part here that hits unexpectedly. Knowing one day soon I’ll have to throw away his toothbrush. I didn’t have time to process anything. I didn’t have time to tell him how wonderful he was. I don’t know how people go through this. I wasn’t supposed to loose him yet. I’ll be eternally heartbroken. by @smileytelli
