Some of my key work of the year! #artvsartist2024 #artvsartist

Probably the most challenging year in work and art where I mostly challenged myself to do more and different. I've learnt a lot and want more!

My goal now is to make more personal projects. Even though I don't have much time for it, there is always something in your way, right? It's ok!

If you want to support me and follow my journey - subscribe to my Patreon blog!
It helps me immensely with finding more time to do things I love and want.

A little collection of some of my older maps - forgotten towns and mysterious places.

I thought it was finally time to bring some of these old works together in one place!

Which one would you explore first?

You know what I don't see enough of? City maps in fantasy books.

So here is mine.

Welcome to Hyperion, the capital of the Holy Crucian Imperium, one of the great gunpowder empires of the Gunmetal Gods world.

This is the third city @smitchellarts has drawn for my series, and she knocked it out of the park once again.

The map is part of the Dark Drinker Ultimate Edition, launching in just 2 weeks on Kickstarter!

I've never drawn anything resembling the real world before, and here it is - a part of a map of Europe!

It's not the most historically accurate one. I mean, I don't think dinosaurs lived in Carthage during Alexander the Great's era, but who knows?

Created for @jrmathewsauthor , creator of the Portal to Nova Roma series.

Here are some of my favourite world and continent maps I've made over the years!

I always love and filling them with different regions and details.

What inspires you the most when looking at a map - the icons, border design or something else?

Grey Haven Hospital was never a welcoming place, but something is very wrong now.

You arrive in town expecting a quick visit, but something feels off. The streets are busy, yet everyone is strangely silent.

Then you notice the hospital: strange plants glowing with yellow light and a long line of people waiting to get inside.

What is happening in Grey Haven? And what are they waiting for?

Maybe it's better to leave before you find out..

Ports are such an important part of a city!

I always enjoy figuring out how a city grows around its waterfront - from small fishing docks to huge harbors filled with ships, warehouses, and busy streets.

Here are a few different ones from my maps!

I love drawing winter settlements!

There's something about the contrast between the snow and the warm lights that makes them feel especially cozy.

Would you rather visit a place like this in summer or winter?

Surrounded by endless sea, the Island of Vytal has long been home to travelers, merchants, and adventurers.

A thriving city stands at its heart, while forgotten ruins, mountain fortresses, and ancient creatures watch over its shores.

If you could spend a day exploring this island, where would you go first?

One thing I struggled with for a long time was drawing villages.

I used to think every building needed lots of tiny details. In reality, it was the composition, shapes, and values that made the biggest difference - not the number of bricks or windows.

Sometimes less really is more.

Do you prefer small villages or sprawling fantasy cities?
