Ever realize how quickly the mind can turn one moment into a whole narrative?

One small thing happens…
and suddenly the mind starts building a whole painful movie.

This is one of the biggest drivers of emotional spirals.

Something happens.
Then the mind adds meaning.
Then the meaning starts to feel like reality.

One of the most helpful things I’ve been practicing in the Emotional Disrupter System is learning to separate two things:

What actually happened
from
the story my mind is adding

For example:
Fact: Someone didn’t text me back.
Story: They’re upset with me. I said something wrong. I’m being ignored.

Or:

Fact: I made a mistake.
Story: I always mess things up. I’m not enough. I ruin everything.

The story can feel incredibly real.

But it is still not the same thing as the fact.

When I can separate the two, something interesting happens:

More breathing room.
More clarity.
Less spiral.

Try this today:

When something emotional hits, write down:

What happened?

Then ask yourself:

What story is my mind adding?

You don’t have to judge yourself for the story.

Just notice it.

Sometimes that one small step is enough to stop a difficult moment from turning into a full emotional avalanche.

Question: Have you ever caught yourself reacting more to the story than to the actual fact? by @smithaharon

Ever notice how emotions get stronger when you can feel them but can’t quite name them?

Everything turns into a blur.

You just feel:

Off
Tight
Agitated
Heavy
Shut down

But you never slow down long enough to ask what’s actually there.

One of the first steps in the Emotional Disrupter System is simple:

Name the emotion.

Not the whole story.
Not the explanation.
Just the emotion.

Is it:
fear
shame
frustration
sadness
overwhelm
disappointment
anger
anxiety

That small shift creates space.

Instead of:

“I’m a wreck.”

It becomes:

“I’m feeling shame.”
“I’m feeling fear.”
“I’m feeling frustration.”

And suddenly you’re working with the emotion instead of being run by it.

Try this today:

The next time something throws you off, pause and ask:

What am I actually feeling right now?

You don’t have to solve it.

Just name it.

That’s one of the first ways I’ve been learning to interrupt the loop.

Question:

Which emotion is hardest for you to name in the moment? by @smithaharon

How to Tell if Someone’s Opinion Is Quietly Becoming Your Authority

Most people don’t notice when this is happening.

Here are a few signals to watch for:

• You feel tension when someone disagrees with you.
• You suddenly feel the urge to explain or prove yourself.
• Silence from them makes you uncomfortable.
• Your mind starts building a “defense speech.”

That’s often the moment you’ve shifted from sharing to seeking approval.

The practice is simple but powerful:

Let people have their opinions without letting those opinions define your confidence.

Stay curious.
Stay grounded.
Stay yourself.

I worked out this morning!

Trying something different lately.
When I feel amped up, I’m choosing movement instead of overthinking. by @smithaharon

Lately I’ve been reading A Course in Miracles has challenged me in a big way. It's got me rethinking what sin actually is.

What if the issue isn’t that we need fixing…
But that we need clearer vision?

ACIM teaches that we’re already whole. Already created perfect. The problem isn’t behavior at the core. It’s the belief that we’ve become something broken, that we’ve separated.

So repentance isn’t about trying harder or cleaning ourselves up.
It’s about remembering.
It’s about seeing clearly again.
It’s about shedding the illusion and realizing we never stopped being what we are.

Still processing this. But the shift from “fix yourself” to “see clearly” has been freeing for me.

Curious how others have wrestled with this idea. by @smithaharon

I love the algorithm! I just did a 30 min rant about my concerns with the church and now my feed reflects that. It's like an angel is guiding my algo- to give me what I need.
