Our hosts at SDU were unbelievably generous. We were treated to many fabulous meals and superb hospitality. This is a small sample, a huge platter of lamb slow cooked and then disassembled before serving. #sduuniversity taken in Suleyman Demirel University by @smithpeterm

Animals are a huge part of Kyrgyz life. There are 1000’s of herds of sheep, cattle and horses roaming relatively freely. As they constitute most of the wealth of the rural population they are accompanied quietly by a herdsman. We even came across a small herd of camels on the way to Naryn. taken in Issyk-Kul Region by @smithpeterm

Since electricity is a huge part of my life I immediately started noticing these transformers. They everywhere in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. They are all Soviet era, part of the infrastructure that came with colonization. taken in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan by @smithpeterm
