Vivi Koehler is wearing a Kala frame with a purple tint that gives a playful vibe to her cool aesthetic. Vivi is the founder of Kin Café at Asia Society Texas, a community-centered café where tea, food, and hospitality are used as tools for connection, reflection, and cultural exchange. Drawing from a lifelong interest in tea traditions, plant-based cuisine, and the rituals that bring people together, Vivi creates experiences that encourage people to slow down, engage their senses, and connect more deeply with themselves and one another. by @smithsopticians

Looking sharp in an Enhance frame, Maryland native Ryan Grimes is the owner/operator of @knives_in_water, a soul food inspired pop-up kitchen based in Houston’s East End. He has recently partnered with @wonkypower on Navigation Blvd to host a screening of cult classic film “AFROPUNK” with an inperson presentation from its director @spoonersnofun. The event is free, all ages and will feature free food by KIW and performances by @lagrimas.htx and @blackie.allcapswithspaces. You can also find Ryan playing guitar in his new band, @derechohtx. by @smithsopticians

Hey y’all, just wanted to say thanks to everyone that came out on Saturday and supported our friends. We had a lot of fun hosting and seeing everyone here. Our friends also recorded a fun little video on Super 8 to document the event. I hope you enjoy this video and thanks again. We look forward to hosting something else again soon! by @smithsopticians

Chris co owner of @retrospectcoffeebar is wearing a vintage Apollo frame made from nylon material. The frame is super tough and durable. We love getting coffee from them before we open our shop. Their location is just around the corner from us, we feel so lucky to have them near us! ☕️ by @smithsopticians

Ursula Andreeff (@ursula_ampersand) is a neighbor and frequent denizen of Smith’s, often stopping in to say hi during her walks around the neighborhood.

Ursula is an artist, high school art teacher and founder of @ampersand_urbandesign studio. Her studio creates projects such as bus stop art installations, pedestrian islands, and block parties.

We wanted to photograph her with her favorite pair of glasses from @smithsopticians before she moves to New York City this summer to study urban planning & urban placemaking @prattgcpe.

Her goal is to create and manage public art projects that improve public spaces (parks, plazas, waterfronts) and multimodal transportation systems (sidewalks, bike lanes, buses, trains, train stations). by @smithsopticians

This is Cass. She is an artist, photographer, facilitator and darkroom manager at Flats.

Her work centers around holding space for images, for people, and for the fleeting moments that contain something sacred. She cares deeply about community and fostering the environments that allow it to grow.

She came into Smith’s looking for the perfect frame and a long overdue lens upgrade. Her words “ The first roll I developed with my new glasses had me gagging at the sharpness… why didn’t I do this sooner!! 😭”.
You can go check her out @flatspresents .
