Updated adoption hours! 🐾 We have multiple ways for you to meet your future kitty across San Diego, and one important update to note: Adoption Hours:
• PetSmart Sports Arena – Saturdays 2–4 PM
• PetSmart Clairemont – Sundays 12–3 PM
• PetSmart Mission Valley – Sundays 12–3 PM (5/24 at Mission Valley cancelled) 📣 Petco Escondido Update:
Our Petco adoption hours now vary slightly month to month and will typically fall on either the first or second Saturday from 12–3 PM. Be sure to check the dates below! Upcoming Petco dates:

• December 5 Adoption hours are designated times when our volunteers are on-site, so you can stop by without an appointment to meet the cats, and if you’re pre-approved, you can take your new family member home the same day! We need more hands (and hearts) to keep saving cats. 🐾💛 Smittens Rescue is actively looking for volunteers in a few key areas, and we’d love for you to join our team: Adoption center volunteers Help care for our cats at adoption centers throughout San Diego, including PetSmart Clairemont, PetSmart Mission Valley, PetSmart Sports Arena, and Petco Escondido. This includes feeding, cleaning, socializing, and making sure the cats are happy, healthy, and adoption-ready. Fosters Open up your home and help us save more lives. Fostering gives cats a safe place to land while they get ready for adoption. You don’t need a big space — a spare bedroom, bathroom, or any quiet area in your home works. We provide supplies and support; you provide the love and space. Adoption event coordinators Help plan and host adoption events that give our cats the exposure they need to find homes. This role is perfect for organized, people-loving volunteers who want to make a big impact. We also have remote, administrative positions available. 📍We are a volunteer based rescue located in San Diego, California. How to get involved: Apply at smittensrescue.org/volunteer Volunteers must be 18+, or minors must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Meet Moira! 🖤🤍 Moira is a 4-year-old tuxedo girl who has been with Smittens for 110 days and is ready for a home of her own! She’s shy at first, but once she trusts you, she becomes an affectionate, silly, and deeply loyal companion. 💕 Moira loves chin scratches, morning cuddles, head butts, kisses, and carrying felt balls around with her signature squeaks. She’ll even leave toys by your bed as little gifts! She’s looking for a calm, predictable home where she can settle in at her own pace and become your devoted best friend. Moira had stomatitis and most of her teeth removed, but she’s in remission, takes no ongoing medication, and eats dry food normally. She just needs regular vet checkups to keep her mouth healthy. 📍 Moira is currently in a foster home. Apply to meet her! 🧡 Meet Abuelo Antonio! He’s 10 years old and full of life, love, and personality! Abuelo is happy, energetic, food-motivated, and VERY talkative. He loves playtime, lounging near his people, and being part of the action.🐾 ❤️ Why adopt a senior? Their personalities are established, they’re past the kitten chaos, and they still have so much love to give. Give a senior a cozy home and the chance to spend their golden years feeling safe and loved! Abuelo unfortunately was adopted but returned a few days later due to an unexpected life change for his adopter. It wasn’t anyone’s fault! We’re grateful they followed our policy to return cats to Smittens so we can keep them safe. Now he’s looking for his forever home. He gets along with other cats, enjoys playtime, and is gentle about communicating when he needs a break. 🧡 Abuelo is FIV+. Meet Bella 💗 Bella is 2 years old and has been waiting for her forever home for 165 days. She’s become one of our longest residents, and we would love nothing more than to see her finally get the happy ending she deserves. 🥹 Part of the reason Bella has been waiting so long is that she’s shy. When she first arrived at the adoption center, she mostly stayed in her cage, unsure of her new surroundings. But with time, patience, and the trust she’s built with our volunteers, we’ve watched her blossom. Now, Bella is starting to venture out, seek affection, and show off the incredibly sweet, loving girl underneath that shyness. She just needs someone willing to give her the time and space to feel safe. ❤️ Bella is looking for a patient adopter who will let her come out of her shell at her own pace. She may need a little extra time to settle in, but we promise the Bella on the other side of that shyness is SO worth it. 📍 Meet Bella at PetSmart Mission Valley! Meet Miso 🧡 Miso is a 4-year-old, big, beautiful girl with an even bigger personality. She came to Smittens as a kitten in 2024 and quickly blossomed from shy and unsure into a chatty, affectionate sweetheart who loves cuddles, lap time, and string toys. Miso has been adopted and returned three times, and each experience has helped us better understand what she needs to truly thrive. She takes time to settle in and can be a little bossy during those first few days or weeks. She isn’t mean, she’s just honest about how she’s feeling. Once she feels safe, that affectionate, head-butting, lap-loving lovebug comes right back out. Miso is a relationship cat, not a plug-and-play cat. ❤️ She needs a patient adopter who will give her time, stability, and space to adjust at her own pace. She can be reactive toward other cats initially and will need slow introductions, but she can coexist well with the right approach. She can also live with respectful dogs and gentle, cat-savvy kids. One important update: Miso’s most recent return was related to litterbox behavior, but she has had zero accidents since returning to Smittens. We believe the issue was likely related to the environment and stress of that particular home. If you’re looking for a cat with a huge personality who will truly bond with you once she trusts you, Miso may be your girl. She has been waiting a long time for the right forever home. 🥹 Miso is currently in foster care and can be met in her foster home after you apply and set an appointment. Meet Elton! 💙 Elton is 5 years old and was recently returned to Smittens. He’s back at PetSmart Mission Valley and hoping this time he’ll find his forever home. Our friends at @feral_cat_coalition helped save him from a dangerous life on the streets before coming to Smittens. Elton has mild cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which means he’s a little wobbly and uncoordinated. It isn’t painful, doesn’t require medication, and won’t get worse. He just does things with a little more flair! Because he can’t jump and has a big startle response, he does best in a calm, predictable home with someone who understands CH. He absolutely loves other cats and feels more confident with feline friends around. He’d prefer a home without dogs and loves cozy cave beds, catnip toys, food, and, of course, cuddle time. When he’s ready for affection, he’ll dramatically flop over and make the cutest air biscuits. 🥹 Elton is quirky, affectionate, independent, and so deserving of a patient forever family who will love him exactly as he is. 📍 Meet Elton at PetSmart Mission Valley!
