Lots of emotions this Father’s Day.

It’s the 19th without my dad, and in some ways I miss him now more than ever.

It’s also the year I turn the age my dad was when he passed. That weighs heavy on my heart, mind, and soul.

Tomi Jazz (@tomijazznewyork_official )is in my top 5 spots in NYC. Seriously cool vibe with a 1970’s underground feel, live jazz, good Japanese small plate food for sharing, and some amazing cocktails.

Add this to your list. Seriously. Even down in the Financial District? Head on up to Midtown East. It’s 💯 worth it. But make sure you are there at 5pm sharp or risk a long wait in line.

The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey is 178 mile, mountainous relay where a team of 12, split into vans of 6, spends 2 days running from Reno, around Lake Tahoe, and back to Reno.

It’s an experience like no other. One where personal and corporate walls come down and every person helps their teammates preservere through 3 legs of running that pushes boundaries you aren’t comfortable with.

As the old (and honestly slow) guy in my team, it’s an amazing way to restore faith in humanity. My 3 legs totaled about 15 miles in altitude I couldn’t train for. But my van, and frankly everyone involved, were just amazing. Tip of the cap to the “Running Bros” who probably will never know their positive impact.

Year 2 is in the books. Year 3 training begins in a month because I call bullshit on my performance this year.

Team TBD (Trying But Dying) Van 1 had 100 kills (passed runners from other teams). We ended with a simply crazy incline up to Virginia City, NV where we drank and celebrated before meeting Van 2 way back down in Reno.

There can be only ONE!

At last, my 2026 Whiskey Sweet Sixteen champion is crowned. A little late this year due to unforeseen work travel, but well worth the wait.

There were no bad pours, and each contest was deliciously close. TBH, the winner surprised me.

But this Parker’s Heritage blew the doors off every round, screaming out of the Northwest bracket and dropping poster dunks with each sip. Wow!

In the end, I’m always happy to host this version of March Madness with my co-judge @bourboninmybelly . This year 6 new bottles were opened, and that’s the best.

CHEERS UNTIL NEXT YEAR!
