On music, film, and the spaces in between – @mez.heirs in SMOCK.

Raleigh, North Carolina native Mez has gone from writing on Dr. Dre’s Compton and recording alongside Dreamville, to directing work for J. Cole, Nike and others. Now, he turns to his new project "Electric Future Gangster" releasing November 20th.

We spent an afternoon with him at a Rudolph M. Schindler-designed home in Los Angeles, shot by @justinchung in the latest from SMOCK fall / winter: Japanese cashmere suiting, washed corduroy, heavyweight French terry, and our new leather jacket made with Golden Bear in San Francisco.

With a new project on the way, @mez.heirs has been in album rollout mode – moving between meetings, music videos, photoshoots and everything that comes with it.

We caught up with Mez for a SMOCK styling session and talked about expanding from music into film and the things that keep him relaxed and inspired outside of work: chess, working on cars, Japanese manga, building Gundam models and watching runways.

“At some point I realized one of my gifts is storytelling, in more than one medium – I like to create narratives wherever I can find them.”
