I watched the awards last nigh. Ffunny for a “ video” music awards show, very rare where the production squad, glam squad or even the wardrobe squad on set are mentioned. More importantly the Directors being acknowledged should have a bit more shine of acknowledgement. There should be a category for maybe Legendary Director eg: #RalphMcDaniels, #PaulHunter, @HypeWilliams… Or Most Impactful Director I don’t know! Directors should be seen more. They’re a major component to selling records/ streams to date
NOW Wardrobe/ Fashion Stylist should have light somewhat too lol! The era I’m grew up on, a lot of fashion from music videos set the temperature for styles and trends in the streets based on how the artist were dressed. Which became a trickle effect for clothing brands or tailors to benefit recognition from views of the music video. Tthink about it, the wardrobe helps tell the narrative and brings the storyline to life in a music video.
I remember when Michael Jackson had a “ World Premiere “ vid” and couldn’t wait to see what Mike would be rockin. Or what’s @RunDMC @DanaDaneMedia and @TheRulerNYC or @KwameVision @TheRealGrandPuba gonna wear now?! To many of my fave style icons. A @Nas, Puff Daddy, Kanye etc. Thanks to early broadcast like @VideoMusicBox can’t forget the show #GraffitiRock with @Fab5Freddy before @YOmtvRaps @EdLover
I’m just saying. hought it was dope @ArianaGrande shouted out her whole team of Production for her Video Of The Year Award, brought her Director on stage for her acceptance. Yet AG didn’t mention stylist @LuxuryLaw smh.
