Three Years 🕊️

People often tell you that grief gets easier. I’d like to think that people distract themselves enough to get away from the grief.

People know me through motorcycles, but very few know the story behind why I ride or why July will always be the hardest month of the year.

Tatiana wasn’t just my sister. She was my best friend before I even knew what a best friend was.

We shared a room growing up with bunk beds. We would build forts, stayed up talking in the dark long after we were supposed to be asleep, and fought over whose side of the room belonged to who.

When we were younger, we’d sneak out and watch the stars together from the playground.

As we got older, we’d go wherever life took us whether that be slashing, tires, dingdong, ditching or behind a bush getting bit by ants.

I spent so much of my life looking for a best friend, never realizing that person had been with me all along on the bunk above me.

I didn’t understand what hospice really meant. I thought it was just another hospital room. I didn’t know it was where families learned how to say goodbye.

I couldn’t save my sister, but I help save someone else’s

. Now I spend my days helping repair hearts and lungs, hoping that somewhere, in someone else’s story, another family gets one more tomorrow.

Until we meet again 🕊️
