2023 Update: read caption before watching

Maybe grab a delicious snack, a cup of hot tea, and put on some comfy socks, you might need it.

For starters, Thanksgiving felt pretty empty this year. I guess one could say things have been better.

Life has knocked me on my ass a lot recently.

I feel that I can’t catch my breath and that my schedule is too full. I desire to connect, to play, to support, and to explore and there’s very little time for that right now.

I’ll spare the details and say, when it rains, it pours. You can compare me to a heavy comforter in the washing machine when its mid cycle and the machine breaks and you’ve got to figure out how to get all the water out because it’s too heavy to put in the dryer. That’s me.

These past couple of days, i’ve been scrambling to put together an assignment for my social work class and I feel called to share my experience.

The goal was for students to explore their professional development through artistic expression and create artwork that expresses a deeper exploration of personal/professional development in the field making ourselves the focus of the healing process.

In thinking about what to share, I realized that the most powerful expressive art piece in my life currently is my relationship with acrobatics. It was the start of this entire chapter and has been the one thing I find myself prioritizing when my world feels to be falling apart. It resets me and connects me to some of the world’s greatest people.

I wanted to share some of my most memorable acrobatic moments thus far & demonstrate how this expressive movement of art has an authentic way of bringing people together regardless of who you are, where you come from, or where you’re headed.

The video only highlights moments of my experience and doesn’t begin to touch beneath the surface of how many people i’ve gratefully had the opportunity to connect with.

To everyone in this community, thank you for being you, for showing up, for being vulnerable, for providing patience, and for creating amazing art. I am better with you. 🙏💙
