Meet Shamus McMahon ’26 – new St. Norbert College graduate, proud namesake of Fr. James “Seamus” Neilson, and living proof of what community and generosity can do.

When Shamus first considered coming to SNC, he wasn’t sure he could afford it. And once he arrived, he questioned whether he’d chosen the right career path. But thanks to scholarship assistance and the strength of a deeply connected community, he found:

Belonging.
Support.
Confidence.

To everyone who helped make his journey possible, Shamus shares, “You have no idea the difference you’ve made in my life.”

Who are these Class of 2026 graduates, ready to make their mark on the world?

At yesterday’s Commencement, St. Norbert College awarded 364 undergraduate degrees, 23 graduate degrees, and one pre-law certificate. Of our graduates, 182 earned honors distinctions, and 34 were part of the Honors Program. This accomplished class represents 22 states and three countries – the United States, Canada, and India – and includes 173 student-athletes.

When longtime professor and priest Fr. James “Seamus” Neilson met his namesake, graduating senior Shamus McMahon ‘26, it was a powerful reminder of what makes St. Norbert College so special – this is a community that shows up for each other, across generations.

Shamus wasn’t sure he could afford to attend – or if he had chosen the right career path once he arrived. But thanks to the generosity of the St. Norbert community, he received scholarship support to come to SNC, found encouragement to explore from his peers and mentors, and discovered his calling to serve the common good.

"Because of you, I found my path," Shamus says.

Now, with newfound confidence, he plans to join the Air Force Reserves and attend law school.
