Forest for the Trees and @FWC26Seattle are teaming up to welcome the world, celebrate soccer, and showcase artists this summer!

Sa’rah “Rah” Melinda Sabino is a Moroccan-American multimedia artist from Boston, MA, based in Portland, OR. Her work explores identity, duality, culture and belonging through painting, sculpture, and installation.

This mural by @sneakhersole centers an Egyptian woman wearing her national team’s jersey as a hijab, transforming a symbol of sport into one of identity, protection, and pride. The phrase “Mother of the world,” written in English and Arabic, references Egypt’s cultural legacy while honoring the strength and presence of women as carriers of history and belonging.

Building on her ongoing practice, Sabino uses the jersey-hijab as a bridge between cultures, as well as asserts visibility, identity and self-definition. Created for the 2026 World Cup, the mural reframes sport as a space not just of global unity, but of layered identity and quiet resilience.

Sisterhood✨✨✨✨🫶🏽. This had to be a separate post because of how special it is to me. For years I’ve been following this woman in complete admiration , not just because of how amazing her art is , but because I truly saw the brilliant human that god made her be in this world from afar and really admired it. Cristina is not only a talented and genius artist , a community cultivator and soul , but more importantly she’s an incredibly soft , sweet vulnerable woman. She’s the most amazing mother, entrepreneur and she has motivated me so much to continue to chase this dream and to stay myself while doing it. I say it all the time my dream job is to be a mom one day and watching her handle all of her success and beautiful life but still be an incredible mom to her children just inspires me so much. I’m truly blessed to be able to call her my sister. This trip to Philly was such a gift to spend real time together. There are not always examples of women of color in spaces like this navigating all the hardships of the art world , staying relevant , running business , staying soft , being honest , and most importantly being a mother through it all. I hope one day I can be just as brilliant as you Cristina. ✨🫶🏽🧿🪬🤲🏾 by @sneakhersole

“Wrapped in the American Dream, Afus” 2024, oil , silver leaf and gems on canvas. This piece was commissioned to sit in Washington, DC in a collection of all female artists called the first 46 for The Ned. My wrapped in the American dream series talks about what it means to be raised in a country that sells us its dream, as a first generation Moroccan American woman , I bring with me the dreams not only of myself but of my amazigh ancestors before me. What does it mean to be a brown female who dreams in a world not made to protect her? What does freedom and liberty really look like? taken in Washington, D.C. by @sneakhersole
