Dressin for the divine feminine

On Women's Day, dressing is an offering.
To the ancestors. To the altar.
To the part of ourselves that remembers life before this physical existence.

Because getting dressed isn't just aesthetics it's communication.
If you look closely, you will see Oshun in our gold.
You will see Mami Wata in our flow.
You will see our Southern grandmothers in how we carry ourselves.
They taught us that dressing well is a form of praise.

The world tells women to dress for the algorithm, for trends, for approval.
But today we dress for the Divine Feminine Intelligence.

Because when the ancestors are in the room,
we do not just put on clothes we prepare.

From the headwraps to the hats to the arm cuffs,
nothing is accidental.
It is all spiritual. It is all frequency.

This Women's Day, our closets are in covenant
with the women who came before us,
and our style is a message
to the women who are still waking up.

- A humble Pantsula. The initial intention of photographing the participant was to illustrate the bold evolution of Pantsula culture, as embodied by the subject through the use of earrings.

During this time, I worked on a fine art photography project that mixes fashion and storytelling. The aim was to show how young people express their identity and culture through style and attitude.

The photos were taken in an old abandoned building to create a strong contrast between beauty and decay. The setting also symbolizes strength and survival in tough environments.

In the image, the model wears a mix of modern fashion items and cultural accessories, such as beads, sunglasses, and a Union Jack suitcase. Each look represents confidence, freedom, and the blending of African and Western influences.

This work explores themes of identity, history, and transformation. The act of ironing in an outdoor, broken space symbolizes the attempt to smooth out and make sense of personal and cultural struggles. The Union Jack suitcase hints at colonial influence, while the subject’s bold fashion and confident stance speak to self-expression and modern African identity. The work was created under @artbanksa for national museum for exhibition purposes specifically the first image.
