This fish is a prime example of how important it is to take few minutes and just look at the water and see what’s going on. This night was super dark. No moon, no wind, and no cloud cover for any city lights to reflect off of. The tide had been right for the past 15 minutes and that small window of opportunity was closing. I stopped casting and thought to myself, why aren’t they here ? Maybe there just not biting !?! Maybe I have to change up colors ?!? I stood there looking and scanning the surface of the water for any life. Nothing......Wait , what’s that. There’s a few mullet that were pushing some small V wakes but they were moving really slow like they haven’t seen a snook all night. I stood there looking down current and seen a few more mullet making there way towards me. As soon as I was about to take my eyes off of them they did a quick little zigzag scatter and started hauling ass up current. I wanted to cast right away but I played this game a few times before. I waited until some more mullet were going to pass by from where they scattered from and made my cast past them. Did a couple of quick cranks to catch up to them and then slowed it down so the spooltek would swim under them. A couple of stupid slow cranks against the current and DONGGG!!!! The few mullet that were around my lure jumped 3 feet out of the water the same time this fish hammered my lure.
