There's a certain level of comfort i feel whenever I'm with you, and after losing mom, I'm thankful to have not close myself off from loving you even harder. I leaned in, and always treated time with you like something precious. 🥹

My Gray haired bestie, My peach Pie. There's a huge friendship here, not just father daughter duty. My dad is one of those men whose presence fills a room without needing attention. So warm, charming, respected, and definitely has gotten random strangers telling him their life story in checkout lines. 🙄😂

Dad, I love you! Just seeing how the one's who TRULY value you says a lot. Sometimes the clearest reflection of someone’s character is how other people soften around you. 🤗

I take the pictures, I save the voicemails, Ask you about tons of stories, and we frequently go down memory lane about mom. 💜

I'll never regret collecting ordinary moments with you. ✨️

Today I got a call from my little brother.
To me, he’s not “a 22 year old sailor.” He’s still DJ, my baby. 🥺 The kid I watched grow up. Some of my work friends saw my tears nearing the end of the work day, because my brain immediately skipped past all the training, protocols, and professionalism and went straight to:

“MY BROTHER IS GOING UNDER THE OCEAN IN A METAL TUBE FOR 5 MONTHS!” 😞

That is sibling love mixed with anxiety trying to protect someone I deeply care about. -- Submarines sound terrifying because my anxiety riddled brain latches onto disaster stories. Movies, documentaries, freak accidents, but the reality is that he will be with a crew who is highly trained, highly monitored, and operating within one of the most disciplined environments in the military.

I have to trust that my brother isn’t some random kid tossed underwater with vibes and a flashlight, He has training, leadership, procedures, systems, and an entire crew depending on one another.

It still doesn’t erase my fear, but it matters.....

Not being able to hear from him until October 2027, is what punched me in the chest the hardest. A lot of us are not built to casually process:

“I love this person deeply and now communication disappears.” 🥺

This creates helplessness. Especially for someone like me who already carries anxiety and hypervigilance emotionally. What I MUST remember is that my brother clearly has courage!

Not fake macho courage. Real courage.
The kind where someone leaves home young, joins the Navy, enters difficult spaces, and keeps moving forward anyway.

I hope he knows that having a big sister who loves him this fiercely matters to him more than he probably says out loud.

Guys, PLEASE Pray for DaJuan and his fellow Sailors.

words can't express how deeply I love you and how proud I am of this moment for you. I have always noticed your intelligence, your humor, your self-awareness, your drive, and your gift. How did this day come so fast?
One moment I'm feeding you grits in your high chair, to now witnessing you walk across the stage in your cap and gown. 🥹

Never stop being you! Never stop working hard and always stay true to yourself. You give me hope because you represent possibility, goodness, and a bright future that I am excited to witness. I'm beyond proud to be your big sister.

I will forever hold dear to my heart, that I watched you grow into this wonderful, amazing young woman. I love you with my whole heart and soul. No matter what may come, I will always be cheering you on. Let this universe carry you as far as it wants. You deserve it!

Dignity instead of distortion.

NOT broken.
NOT angry either. Even though the anger is loud right now.

A picture of you, a woman sitting upright, shoulders tired but, not collapsed.
Her spine is straight not because life was gentle, but because she refused to disappear.

Her eyes, the focal point. Not soft-focus, not dreamy but clear.
Eyes that have seen manipulation up close and decided, “Never again.”
There’s sadness there, yes—but more than that, discernment. The kind you earn, not the kind you’re born with.

Her hands are open, not clenched.
Because she’s learning slowly to stop gripping people who were never safe to hold.

Around her would be faint shadows. Not monsters. Not villains.
Just outlines of past versions of herself. Women who hoped harder than they should’ve, stayed longer than they should’ve, and loved without protection.
Those shadows aren’t chasing her anymore. They’re behind her.

The background wouldn’t be dramatic. No storm clouds.
It would be quiet. Neutral. Almost boring. Because that’s what healing looks like before it feels good.

And the most important detail?

A crack of light. Not blazing, not cinematic
just enough to show that, this woman is still here, still choosing herself, still refusing to become cruel just because she was hurt.

Not a villain.
Not a victim.
A woman in the exact middle of shedding an old skin. That’s the truth of where she is now. She’s becoming someone calmer.
Sharper.
Less available to bullshit.

And that woman?
