Mt Olympus picked up 30 cm in the last 24 hours. That is the largest 24-hour snowfall at any open resort on Earth today.

All of it fell cold. The surface is settled pack at minus five degrees with a low refreeze risk, so it should ride well rather than crust over.

The week ahead is quiet, so this is a window rather than a build. If you can reach the Craigieburn Range, go early.

From the archive — September 27.

Marmot Basin's base peaked at 160 cm last season, the deepest of any resort in Alberta. Lake Louise came next at 149 cm.

That depth was built from 427.9 cm of snowfall across the season, the most in the province, falling over 18 powder days.

What it means for a Jasper trip this winter: the mountain builds a real base and holds it late. Last season ran to May 2.

Marmot Basin opens again on November 25.

Hintertux Glacier logged 47 bluebird days last season, more than any resort in Austria. Stubai Glacier was second on 46, Obergurgl third on 37.

Bluebird days are the clear-sky days a resort gets across a season — the days you get the view as well as the snow.

The glacier sits at 3,250 metres and took 461 cm through 2025-26. SnowSure projects it reopens October 3, and 5.9 cm has already fallen up top this week.
