i had such a great first market experience a few weeks ago - thank you so much for everyone who stopped by 🙇‍♀️ from friends and family to visitors from vancouver, i’m so honored that you took some time to enjoy my pastries! that being said… some important lessons i learned from my first popup / market: 1. things will go wrong: i spread my prep for this market across 8-10 days to give myself plenty of time. i wasn’t feeling as nervous given my extra prep time, except things inevitably messed with my plans. i had to remake ingredients due to spills, and i had to also pivot with ~40 items that i had planned for but lost due to overproofing resulting in flat croissants. 2. set up your booth ahead of time: i almost didn’t try my setup the night before but this saved me so much stress for my first market. i could figure out what accents to bring that weren’t my baked goods to create an inviting looking booth 🐦‍🔥 3.. know your numbers! it takes some time to figure out your business numbers and ingredient costs, scaling, etc. it’s so worth it though so you aren’t guessing about what you’re spending especially when you’re baking much higher quantities. ingredients and equipment can add up quickly, plus your time is valuable too! if you’re a vendor, any other lessons for early small business vendors preparing for a pop up that you wish you knew? #seattle #pastrylife #popupmarket #microbakery #homebaker by @snowbearbakes

hi! welcome to snow bear bakes 🫶🏻 i’ve been baking for a couple of years now and have always been intimidated by more laminated pastries. i gave it a shot last year (somewhat unsuccessfully, with many cracked pieces of butter) and forgot all about it. i helped out a good friend at her own pop up and it gave me a lot of energy! so i sat down to figure out what would be both a fun challenge and something fulfilling to work on. i settled on asian-inspired flavors for the most part and some other non-asian yummy flavors wrapped in a croissant dough. we have our first pop up on june 27 - @210seattle - with lots of other fantastic vendors and it’s been scary, nervewracking, and exciting. i’d love to see you there! our menu will be posted this week 💗 #pastrylife #seattle #popupmarket #microbakery by @snowbearbakes
