Türk ve Japon el sanatlarının geçmişten günümüze uzanan hikâyesini bir araya getiren bu özel sergide, Monocrab olarak “Üretim ve Sanat” alanında iş birliği içerisinde yer alıyoruz.

Geleneksel üretim kültürünün korunması, görünür kılınması ve geleceğe taşınması için el sanatları ve teknolojinin bir araya geldiği bu anlamlı buluşmanın parçası olmaktan mutluluk duyuyoruz.

Dr. Iku Nagashima istisnâî bir entelektüel, bulunmaz bir dost ve çok kiymetli bir kültür elçisi. Lise yıllarında ilgilendiği Kyudo'da siyah kemer sahibi olan Dr. Nagashima, doktorasını yaparken Tirendâz çatısı altında iki yıl geçirmiş, Türk okçuluğu öğrenirken bize bir kardeş ve çok kıymetli bir dost kazanma ayrıcalığını ve onurunu bahşetmiştir. Sonrasında, Japonya ile kurduğumuz okçuluk merkezli kültürel ilişkilerde kilit rol üstlenmiş, eski dostum Dr. Sumiyo Okumura (SOAC Art Consultancy & Curation) ile yirmi yıllık ortak hayalimizi gerçekleştirmemizi sağlamıştır. Değerli dostumuz kültür elçiliğine devam etmekte ve bu kapsamda yeni bir animenin prodüksiyonunda Türk okçuluğu hakkında danışmanlık desteği vermiş. Dear Cheri,

I still can’t believe that you suddenly left us behind today. Just when I was looking forward to seeing you in this fall, I’ve been devastated to learn that I’ll never see you again. I’m sure you didn’t intend for this to happen either!
But I believe there must have been some meaning in you passing away in your beloved Istanbul, surrounded by the people you love. I’m so sorry Cheri I couldn’t see you this time, and that I couldn’t be with you in the hospital.

You were a truly intelligent, unique, and witty, elegant person, a wonderful lady who was loved by everyone. You were always kind to people and extended a hand to help everyone. You always opened your beautiful house to us and welcomed with your delicious meals. Even though you lived far away in Los Angeles, you always contacted me. You always brought us delicious homemade chocolate cookies when you come to your second home in Istanbul.
I was always impressed by how much you valued your friends. You were also a truly important and valuable presence in the carpet world.

Cheri, thank you so much for your precious friendship. I’m truly grateful for being such a close friend for nearly 30 years. I will never forget you and the many things I learned from you. Let’s be good friends again in the next life.
My dear friend Cheri, good bye for a while and rest in peace.

A Happy New Year!
2025 was a very challenging year for me, but I was able to complete my major project entitled “Beauty and Prestige: Ottoman Carpets and Poland” that took mire than four years. All of this was possible with your support. I am truly grateful for it.

This year, I want to spend stress-free life, maintaining inner peace and focusing on new projects. It will be my great pleasure if I could collaborate with you for an interesting project. If you are interested, please contact me :)
